Episode 1.01

Pinõn Hallow Mall

The public doors to the Pinõn Hallow Mall were now locked. The only people inside were the employees of the various food vendors and retail shops. In another hour the janitorial staff would be out cleaning the floors. Past the food court and just down the wide hallway was Film Magic video rentals located right next to Imagination Clothing.

As the lights inside Imagination go off, the door opens and out walks a lovely blond woman. She adjusted the bag on her shoulder before pulling the outer gate closed and locking it. Just as she does this, a tall handsome male from Film Magic comes into the hall. He fumbles with his keys trying not to let her see he’s watching her.

“Had a busy day today Maggie?” He asked as he locked the doors and began pulling down the gate.

“Oh definitely, it seems that all the new mothers in Pinõn Hallow decided that they all needed to buy baby clothes today.” She said glancing at him and then quickly away, “How about yours Conner?”

“Oh you know everyone wants to rent the same movie and then they all want to be on the waiting list. I never realized how many people were waiting for the release of How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days.” Conner said to her.

Shifting nervously Maggie started to leave, “Have a good-night Conner.”

“You too Maggie!” he called out after her as he tossed his keys up in the air and watched her walk away.

Pinõn Hallow Country Club

In the posh dining room of the Pinõn Hallow Country Club Adel Davis sat looking over the menu. Her foot was impatiently moving back and fourth. As the seconds proceed her anger starts to boil until a young man sits down across from her.

“Evening Mother, I’m sorry I’m late.” Spoke an out of breath Kip.

“Where the hell have you been?” Asked Adel, her voice lowered so that the other patrons are unaware of the situation.

“I was checking things at the mall Mother. I wanted to see how things were coming with the renovation for the new department store going in.” He explained, “I left you a message on your voice mail.”

She shook her head and looked back at her menu. “Chad was never like this.” She muttered.

Kip looked at her, the hurt bouncing around throughout his whole self, “Chad never wanted to be your lackey.”

Pam Mitchell’s Apartment

Tossing her book bag down on her bed, Pam Mitchell flopped down next to it. Staring at the ceiling for a few moments she got lost in a day dream. She had seen him again today, he seemed more unreal each day. Kip Davis, a man who had money, power, everything except the most important thing. He had no love. At least that’s what Pam could tell from watching him across the food court.

Sitting up she opened her book bag and took out the society section of the Pinõn Hallow Ledger. A dreamy appearance overtook her as she laid eyes on the picture of Kip in his tuxedo.

She finds herself in the ballroom of the country club, in a dazzling yellow dress with long gloves. Across the room she sees Kip gazing at her. Crossing the room, he doesn’t speak and takes her in his arms. Whisking her across the dance floor.

A heavy sigh escaped her, releasing her from her fantasy as a knocking at the door snapped her out of it. Getting up she went to the door and opened it, coming face to face with a large bouquet of flowers.

“Delivery for Pam Mitchell.” Said a voice behind the flowers.

“Thanks.” She said taking the flowers and placing them on the table by the door. She smiled at the delivery boy as she signed her name on the clip board.

After closing the door behind herself she saw the white envelope and took out the card. “My dearest Pam, I see you everyday at the Java Jet. You always take my breath away, Love a secret admirer.” The wheels of motion went through her head. Who could this secret admirer be? Who did she see at the mall everyday?

A striking idea came over her and glee overtook her, “Kip Davis!”

Conner McKay’s Apartment

The glow of the television covered Conner as he was mindlessly lost in the news magazine he was watching. A big part of him had to wonder why anyone would spend their lives looking for lost, mysterious jewelry. Picking up the remote to turn off the television he paused when he heard a hauntingly familiar voice.

“The legend of the Locket of Lady Agatha dates back to hundreds of years. The only thing we can honestly say is that if the locket is real, we’ll find it.”

Conner dropped the remote when they showed the face of the voice and he saw his wife Bethany. “So that’s what you’ve been doing.” He said aloud to himself as he picked up the remote and turned off the television.

Going into the kitchen he opened the fridge and took out a bottle of beer. He shook his head, “I hope she’s having fun trying to find adventure.” Looking across the room he saw a picture of him and Bethany. He picked it up and then brought it to the trash can and tossed it in. “So long Miss. Indiana Jones.”

The Country Club

“I have told you never to mention your brother.” Adel said in a harsh voice to Kip.

“Oh please like he’ll ever show up in Pinõn Hallow again. He’s probably dead in some ditch in Europe for all we know.” Kip said tossing his napkin down on the table. “You know mother all I ever wanted was your acceptance, for you to love me. But you compare me to your precious first born Chad. He’s gone mother, not coming back!”

“Don’t be too sure of that Kip.” Said Chad as he walked up behind his mother Adel, his eyes staring straight at his little brother.

Adel turned around, any anger she had towards Kip was pushed back as the joy of seeing her son Chad rushed through her. “Chad! You’re home!” she exclaimed before getting up and hugging her oldest son.

“Mother, please get a hold of yourself.” Chad said as he sat down.

Just as that happened Kip stood up and walked out.

“I take it my little brother wasn’t happy to see me?” Chad asked looking at his mother, watching her calculating eyes.

“Well you know Kip has always thought he was in your shadow.”

The Hallow Hotel

Sitting in the dark room Brighton Simpson went through a shoebox full of photographs of himself and Chad Davis. Pulling out a glass ashtray he holds one of the pictures up before taking out a cheap lighter and setting the picture on fire and dropping it. He watches as it crumples and turns to ash.

“Sorry Chad, but I won’t let you pretend I never existed.”

The Pinõn Hallow Mall

Using his master key Kip unlocked one of the loading dock doors to the mall and went inside. Walking around the empty hall, past the darken stores he lets his mind wonder. Sitting down at one of the tables in the food court he looks towards the Java Jet.

“Good Afternoon Mr. Davis.” She had said to him, her smile warming him in a way he never anticipated.

“Hello Pam.” He said returning the smile, “I’ll have my usual.”

“Coming right up.” She said before she set off on getting him his coffee drink.

“I think tomorrow, I’ll ask Pam to lunch. Nothing worst to upset mother then to date an employee of the Mall.”

Pam’s Apartment

Sitting on her bed, she has a zebra print notebook out and she’s furiously jotting down her thoughts from the day. Looking up at the flowers she was overcome with glee at thoughts of Kip Davis and how it just had to be him that sent the flowers.

Standing up she walked over to her closet and started tossing clothes around. She finally settled on an outfit, that even though it was simple compared to what Kip Davis would normally expect it was classic. A perfect compliment for Pam. “One day I’ll be Pamela Davis, the wife of Kip Davis.” She said dreamily.

Maggie’s Apartment

Maggie’s blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and she was dressed in a tank top and boxer shorts. Moving from the hallway to the kitchen she opened the freezer and took out a small carton of ice cream and then grabbed a spoon. Then making her way to her living area she turned on her television and put in a video of an old movie. She started to let herself get lost in the old fashion romance.

“This is all I want, to fall in love.” She said to herself as she watched the characters kiss passionately.
