Episode 1.08

Conner’s Apartment

Lysa opened the door and slowly walked in when she saw Bethany in the kitchen. Behind her was her baby sitter Abby from down the hall. As they closed the door Lysa looked at Bethany for a long moment before sadly going into her room.

Bethany heard the bedroom door close and looked up, “Um Hi. Who are you?” she asked.

“I’m Abby, I baby sit Lysa. She’s in her room. I take it your Bethany, Conner’s wife.”

“Yes, I am Conner’s wife and Lysa’s mother.” Bethany said, putting Abby in her place.

Abby rolled her eyes, “Yes well have a good evening.” She said before leaving the apartment.

Bethany looked to Lysa’s room and started to wonder if she should go speak with her little girl.

Pinõn Hallow Mall—Storage Area

Maggie was alone and muttering as she pulled out some back stock items from the Imagination Clothing storage unit in the basement of the mall. She heard footsteps walking towards the unit but that wasn’t abnormal on a Thursday afternoon considering Fridays and Saturdays the mall was a hotbed of sales.

Mags?” she heard Conner’s voice ask before she looked up and saw him.

She gave him a small smile, “Hey Conner.” She said to him as she grabbed some of the boxes she needed.

“I thought about what you said last night, and Bethany moved in this morning.” He told her.

“Good.” She said trying not to let it show how much it was really hurting her.

Mags, it doesn’t mean that I want her back. This is only to give her a chance to be a part of Lysa’s life. I’m not in love with Bethany anymore.” He said as his hands reached over and one cupped her face while the other brushed her blond hair out of her face.

“Conner, you married to Bethany and she does want you back. I can’t stand in the way of that.” She said when he pulled back and shut the door to the storage area. “Conner!”

“What, I know we’re trapped until later tonight.” He said secretly knowing he had the key to the storage area in his pocket thanks to a security guard he had given three months of free rentals to.

Hallow Hills—The Pool house

Doug knocked lightly on the door hoping Chad would answer. “Come on in!” yelled a slurred voice that didn’t sound like it belonged to his oldest son. He walked in and saw his younger son Kip sitting on the couch chugging on a bottle of vodka.

Kipland Mortimer Davis!” Doug cried out in shock at seeing his son like this.

Kip looked around his head going one way to the other very quickly before he accidentally dropped his bottle and put both hands on his head to stop the now spinning feeling. “Why you make room spin Dad?” he asked thinking everything he said made sense.

Conner’s Apartment

Bethany hung up the phone and then went to Lysa’s room and knocked on the door. It opened only a couple of inches and Lysa looked up at the tall woman. “Mommy?” She asked unsure of a response.

“Hi Lysistrata.” Bethany said as she got closer to Lysa’s height.

The girl got a sour look on her face, “it’s Lysa.” She said looking at her mother.

“Okay Lysa then, I’m sorry I’ve been gone.”

“Its okay, Daddy is a good Daddy.” Lysa said before closing the door.

Storage Unit

“You did this on purpose?” Maggie asked, looking at him shocked.

Conner nodded and then looked up, “Well, I wanted us to talk Mags, is that so wrong of me?” he asked her.

She sighed, “I guess not, but getting us locked in a storage unit. You could’ve found another way to get me alone for five minutes.”

“I wanted to spend actual time with you Mags. You’ve been one of my best friends for the past two years. And if you want the truth I fell in love with you the day you first walked into the video store when the mall opened asking if we were having trouble with our credit card machine. Then when I saw you in the laundry room of the complex that night, Mags I knew that you were going to be a big part of my life.”

Maggie had tears in her eyes as she listened to him. “When I first saw you Conner, I thought I wouldn’t be able to speak. I have had a crush on you this entire time. But Conner you’re married. You’re not free to be with anyone no matter what your heart wants.”

Pool House

Doug shook his head as he watched his son sink deeper into a drunken haze.

Kip tried to stand up but fell back onto the couch, as his leg kicked up at the coffee table throwing the glass covering off.

Doug rushed over to his son and grabbed his arm, “Kip, what’s wrong?” he asked.

Its all my fault.” Was all Kip could say as he swayed back and fourth as he tried to talk to his father, “poor Pam.”

“Kip look at me, how much have you had?” Doug asked as he studied his sons face.

Kip held up his empty bottle his arms flying about a bit, “when I started it was here” he said pointing just below the neck of the bottle, “and now it’s all gone.”

Doug muttered a curse under his breath as he noticed Kip start to turn green. He pulled his son up and rushed him into the bathroom.

Conner’s apartment

The doorbell rang and Bethany grabbed her purse and took out a twenty before answering the door and coming face to face with The Delivery Boy.

“You order a pizza from Saul’s?” he asked with smile. “You must be a new babysitter, cause if it’s not Conner it’s usually that hot blond Maggie.”

Bethany threw the cash on top of the insulated bag before he took the pizza out, “Who asked you kid?”

“Sorry.” He told her as he started counting out the change.

“Keep it.” She said before taking the pizza and slamming the door in his face. She then took the pizza into the kitchen and went back to Lysa’s door.

“Lysa, would you like some pizza?”

Lysa came out in her night shirt and pajama pants, “Cheese with tons of olives?” she asked.

Bethany smiled, “Yup. Exactly the kind.”

Lysa’s eyes lit up, “That’s my favorite!”

Storage Unit

Conner sighed, “The only reason that I’m still married is because I have had no way to find Bethany at allover the years to get her to sign the papers. I have them drawn up and ready to be signed and filed.”

Maggie ran her hands through her hair, “Conner, I just don’t want to be part of some love triangle.”

He cupped her face and smiled, “As far as my heart is concerned Mags, the only woman sharing it with you is Lysa.”

Maggie took a deep breath, “That’s really, truly sweet, but Conner as much as my heart wants this. It can’t be right now.”

Pool House

Chad walked into the pool house and saw the shattered glass on the floor and the bottle lying on the ground. He walked slowly into the room a bit more when his father walked out of the bathroom.

“Dad?” Chad asked when he looked over to the bathroom

Chad!” Doug exclaimed surprised. “Well um Kip’s in there. He drank a lot of Vodka, over some girl named Pam.”

“Why is he here?” Chad asked as he tossed his keys on the table by the door.

Doug shook his head, “I don’t know. I came to see you and found him drunk.”

“Well good thing you found him and not Mom. She’d have him locked up downtown.” Chad said as he went to the kitchen area and took out a large glass and then took a bottle of PowerAde from the fridge and poured the liquid into the glass. “Is Kip done throwing up?”

“Looks like it.” Doug said, “he might be at it again though.”

“Well when he wakes up, I’ll give him some of this. It’ll help a bit. He can sleep here tonight. I’ll take care of him Dad, you go back to the main house and handle mom. Though she probably won’t even know he’s missing.”
