Outside
Hallow Hotel
The morning
light was too bright for
His eyes
were glued to this image as he watched her turn around and saw her face.
“Doctor Harrison?!” He exclaimed to himself before someone behind him honked
their horn.
Pam’s Apartment
Pam opened
her blurry, still sedated eyes and realized she had fallen asleep on the couch,
in Kip’s arms. She carefully slipped away from his
hold. She watched him; his mind not in the face motions of scheming it usually
seemed to be.
“I wonder
what he’s dreaming about.” She said softly to herself.
“Pam,
please look at me! Pam!” Kip cries out as a tear stained face looks at him
repulsed and runs away from him.
He starts
to run but is stopped when he comes face to face with a crucifix. His eyes
widen as a cloud like substance engulfs him and he drops to his knees.
Maggie’s
Apartment
She’s been
awake for hours, staring at the dusty rose-colored ceiling. The butter
cream-colored sheets are tangled about from the restless evening she has been
having. Every time she closes her eyes Conner or Kevin pop into her mind. Each smiling; each making her heart race a little bit faster.
She doesn’t know what to do. She still loves Conner, yet her moral guideline
she set up for herself won’t allow it to happen as long as he’s married to
“Maggie
Williams!” Yelled a male voice outside her apartment.
She sat
straight up in bed, and looked at the clock, just past seven am. She got out of
bed and grabbed her robe, having no idea who was yelling for her.
Hurrying
through the living room she swung the door open, and found herself face to face
with her father Larry Williams and younger sister Cassie.
“Daddy!
Cassie, what are you two doing here this early?” She asked shaking her head
trying to get this to make sense.
“Its after
seven, its not early.” Larry said as he pulled his
younger daughter in with him to the apartment.
Maggie
closed the door, sure Siobhan would be wondering later who the hell it was
causing such a commotion. “Daddy, for people who don’t have to get up until
seven-thirty, its early. Now why are you two here?”
“Well,
Maggie.” Cassie said a bit nervously, “Aunt Patty,
doesn’t want to be my coach anymore. Daddy can’t do it you know.”
Maggie’s
eyes suddenly knew what her sister and father wanted, and why they showed up
when they did. “No! I am done with the beauty queen world. I passed all I knew
onto you on your twelfth birthday.”
“Maggie!
Please, I need your help. I want to be Miss Teen Colorado. Hell I want to be
Miss
“I have my
own life you two. I manage a children’s clothing store. I have a boyfriend.”
She said, though her heart wasn’t sure if she meant Conner or Kevin.
As that
thought ran through her head, someone else knocked at her door and Larry went
to open it and came face to face with Kevin, who was holding a bouquet of
daisies.
“Hi.” Kevin
said, not sure what to take of this man in Maggie’s apartment.
Larry took
the flowers and slammed the door in Kevin’s face.
Pam’s
Apartment
She stood
brewing the vanilla nut coffee, letting the aroma seep through the apartment,
finally causing a stir in Kip. He opened his eyes, and looked around a bit
startled to find himself in Pam’s apartment. “Morning.”
He said softly as he tried to get his bearings for the day.
“Hey, sorry. I guess I fell asleep on you last night.” Pam said as she poured two
cups.
“Actually,
I’m sorry. I had no idea I even fell asleep. I hope I didn’t startle you this
morning.” He said as he stood up and stretched his body.
“No
problem, I think it actually helped me.” She said as she walked over to him and
handed him a mug.
“Thanks.”
He said as he let the scent hit him.
“Thank you
Kip.” She said with a soft smile.
The Pool
House
His hands
were tight and in a claw like stance. Ready for him to
strangle the next person to walk in. He knew his mother, was well insane
in her own unique healthy way. That was however no reason for his father to
have an affair in Pinőn Hallow with his therapist. He knew his mother had
believed his father had been cheating on her for years, but right under her own
nose?
“
“Only if you’re going to tell me why you had your arms around my
therapist!”
Doug’s eyes
grew dark as a claustrophobic sensation took over.
Main House
Adel was
running around the foyer in her jogging suit and opened the door just as Carla
rang the bell. Adel stared at the woman who had been in her husbands arms only
an hour or so before. Yet that’s not was struck Adel about her.
“Adel?”
asked the soft, supporting voice that many nights had haunted Adel’s
nightmares.
“Yes?” She
asked as her body tilted to the side a bit as her eyes continued to study the
ghostly familiar features.
“I’m Dr.
Harrison, Chad’s therapist. May I have a few moments of your time?”
That was
not the statement or question Adel had expected.
“Could you
possibly, come by my office this afternoon at the mall? I’m on a strict dietary
schedule and must keep it up.”
“Of course,
I’ll stop by later this afternoon.” Carla said before walking off without so
much as a so long.
Maggie’s
Apartment
Larry
looked at the flowers he had taken from Kevin at the door. “I think these are
for you.” He said handing them to Maggie, who was standing there flabbergasted.
“Daddy!
What gave you the right to slam my door in someone’s face?” She asked as she
went and answered the door.
Kevin was
still standing outside, very confused as he looked at his left hand where the
flowers had been just a few moments before. In his right hand he had a bakery
bag.
“Kevin,
come in please. Don’t be afraid it’s just my father who has awful morning
social skills.” She said before tossing a quick angry glance at her father.
He
cautiously walked in, “I’m sorry Maggie, I had no idea you had company. I
would’ve picked up more bagels.”
“It’s
alright Kevin, I had no idea either. Apparently my father and sister just had
to speak to me at seven am.” She closed the door behind him and then looked at
her family, “Kevin, this is my father Larry Williams, and my sister Cassie
Williams.”
“It’s nice
to meet you.” Kevin said honestly.
“We’ll see
about that Kevin is it? What do you do for a living?” Larry asked suspiciously.
“Well sir,
I write country music. I’ve been in
“What, you
can’t make it as a singer so you have to write for them?” Cassie asked,
speaking up and letting everyone know she would not be forgotten.
“Actually,
I do sing, it’s just never been my divine passion.” Kevin tried to explain.
Larry shook
his head, “Maggie what ever happened to that nice man who lives down the hall
with the little girl. Whatever happened to Conner?”
Maggie was
ready to scream, “Daddy, Conner is married.
Pam’s
Apartment
Kip had
just left after realizing he was late for a meeting with some of the managers
of the mall. Pam was sitting alone on her couch looking at a brochure of
Putting
down the glossy paper she looked around, “could I really leave Kip though?”
