Episode 1.19

Siobhan’s Apartment

The alarm clock had just gone off and Siobhan leaned over to hit the snooze button when someone began to bang like a maniac on her door. Sitting up she began grumbling and cursing to herself. Leaving the bedroom she went into the living room and opened the door. Her sleepy eyes starting to glare at her younger brother Kevin.

“What the hell is going on Kevin? Its freaking 8 o’clock on a Saturday morning.” She said as she leaned against the door to keep herself up.

He was smiling from ear to ear, very happy. “I have the greatest news in the world Siobhan!”

“And what would that be?” She asked as she walked away from the door and towards the kitchen.

Kevin entered and closed the door, watching his sister go in search of caffeine. “Well, Siobhan on Thanksgiving day, Maggie and I got married. You’ve got a sister now.”

Siobhan stopped what she was doing and then looked at her brother. His comment had just woken her up more then she could’ve expected anything to. “You and Maggie did what?”

“We got married.” He told her with a giant smile.

Maggie’s apartment

Maggie paced up and down her living room. Right at this very moment her husband, Kevin was telling his sister they got married. She stopped and sat down on the couch. How the hell did this all happen?

Her hands ran thru her blond hair, and she shook it back and fourth. What in the world was she going to do about Conner? She loved him, she was in love with him. Could she honestly say the same about her husband Kevin?

She just couldn’t think about this anymore, it was amazing that she had been able to keep Kevin at arms length so far, but she knew that could only last a little longer. She walked over to her door and double locked all the doors and then went into the bathroom and started the shower running.

Stripping her clothes she tossed them in the hamper and then took off her rings and placed them in the medicine cabinet. She swept her blonde hair into her pale yellow shower cap and got under the steamy water.

As she tried to relax under the pulsating streams of water someone began banging on the apartment door anxiously.

Cursing to herself she turned the water off and grabbed her burgundy robe, wrapping it around the curves of her body. She tore off the cap and tossed it in the wet tub. She unlocked her apartment door, except for the chain and looked out to see Conner.

His eyes were blazing with passion and Maggie was frozen as her heart raced, “just a second.” She told him as she closed the door and undid the lock.

Opening the door, he rushed in and she closed it. Instinct told her to lock the door and she did. “What’s going on Conner?” She asked, knowing at this moment who her soul mate was.

“I love you Maggie, and I’m sick to death of waiting around for my Divorce to be final. Not that it matters since well Bethany is carrying Chad Davis’ baby. I’m tired of watching you with Kevin, and knowing that its me you love.” He said as he looked in her crisp blue eyes and then pushed her disheveled hair away from her face.

The heat between them filled the living room, as he pulled her closer to him and let his mouth fall upon hers. Conner’s hands moved beneath the terry cloth of the robe and felt the damp, soft skin that only a few moments before had been in the shower.

A soft moan escaped from Maggie’s mouth, when Conner’s lips began to explore her sensual neck. Sweeping her in his arms, he carried her into the bedroom and placed her down on the bed. “I love you Maggie.” He told her as he laid down next to her.

She smiled as her hands removed his t-shirt “I love you to Conner.”

He began kissing her again and untied her robe, as she undid his jeans allowing them to reveal themselves to each other.

Pam’s Apartment

Pacing up and down the apartment, Pam would glance back at her fiancée. He had slept over last night, intentionally for the first time. They shared a bed, and the entire time she felt uneasy. Something was not right and she couldn’t figure out why. She had finally taken another muscle relaxer to get to sleep. Part of her thought it was about Sam, and how he reacted and the fact that she had kissed him, shared a very magical kiss with him and then became engaged to Kip.

She went into her kitchen and took out the pancake mix and as she was making it, her mind flashed with a memory of the most terrible night of her life.

“Pam, sweetheart, what’s wrong?” a newly awaken Kip asked as he stood at the counter looking into her ghost white figure.

Her eyes were empty as they met his, “you raped me Kip. It was you in the park, wasn’t it?”

Siobhan’s Apartment

“Wow, Kevin that’s great. However you do realize Mom and Dad are going to kill you right? Well if Larry Williams doesn’t do it first.” Siobhan told her younger brother, as she sat down on her couch. She could see the domino effect in her head; Kevin was going to end up with a very big broken heart.

“I’m not worried about Maggie’s Dad, he’ll warm up. Besides Dad wouldn’t like anyone you brought home either. It’s a Father thing.” Kevin said as he sat next to his sister.

Siobhan shook her head, “You’re as stubborn as a mule Kevin. I just hope this is what Maggie really wanted.”

Maggie’s Apartment

Maggie rests her head on Conner’s chest, her fingers making intricate patterns on the warm flesh. She was in heaven, this all had to be a dream, but it felt so real. She and Conner had just made love, they had been one together.

As Conner played with her blonde hair, the phone rang several times and Maggie had the machine pick it up. “Maggie Williams, what the hell is this about you and Kevin Lane having gotten married in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving? You better call me back young lady.” The voice of her father yelling into the machine before hanging up sent her back into reality. Conner wasn’t her husband, Kevin was.

As soon as he heard the part about Las Vegas Conner was looking for his clothes and out of the bed. “Maggie, why, how? You didn’t want to be with me when Bethany came back, but only a short while after you married Kevin Lane you’re in bed making love with me?” He asked, the hurt and bitterness sour in his voice.

“Conner, marrying Kevin was a mistake, its you I love.” She said as she held the bed sheet close to her body.

“Well I’m sorry.” He said as he got his pants on and pulled his t-shirt over his head, “Good-bye Maggie.” And then he walked out of the apartment and perhaps her life.

Maggie got up and pulled on her robe and quickly made the bed before going into the bathroom and crying as she took a shower.

Hallow Hills

Kip walked into his family home and slammed the door. The ring he had given Pam was almost embedded in his hand, she knew and he realized he had to get the hell out of Pinõn Hallow before it was too late.

“Mom!” He yelled as he started up the stairs. “Mother!”

Adel came to the bottom of the stairs and looked at her son, “What the hell is wrong with you Kipland?”

He rolled his eyes, “I need to get out of Pinõn Hallow for a while mother. I just got dumped by Pam Mitchell.” He said as he slid his hand in his pocket and let the ring drop, “She thinks I raped her in the park. Which is odd considering I was getting ice cream for her at the time. She’s obviously in love with that damn delivery boy. You were right all along mother, I shouldn’t have dated someone who worked at the mall.”

Adel sighed, “Well I could call my friend Phyllis and see if you could stay with her in Heaven Beach. But you would have to promise to stay out of trouble.”

“Mother, just get me away from that trashy Pam.” He said, yet his voice was revealing how much he still wanted Pam and didn’t hate her.

PHPD

Siobhan entered the conference room with several other members of the department and some from the District Attorney’s office. She hated being called in on this committee, but she was stuck.

“As you know,” said an older man with dark hair that was graying at the temples, “We need to find a new lawyer for our office. One with an amazing record, the drive to prosecute crime, and the desire to live in a small community. We’ve placed a national newspaper ad, and should be receiving résumé’s at anytime now. For this Siobhan Lane, you’ll be setting up interview’s with these people. It seems to be appropriate since right now the two cases you had this summer are still stalled.”

Siobhan rolled her eyes, “Yes well the Brighton Simpson murder has been concluded it was a traveling serial killer who struck with similar crimes in Montana. The Rape case however never had suspects to go on.” She leaned forward, “Whoever did either of these crimes will need a lawyer who’s not afraid of the truth, on either side prosecutor and defendant.”

She leaned back in her chair as a fax started through on the machine.
