Episode 2.05

PHPD

Kyle Roberts walked into the squad room, it was practically empty and that was far from normal even for a town the size of Pinõn Hallow. He searched for a familiar face and smiled when he saw Det. Lane sitting at her desk, nervously tapping a pencil.

“Hey Siobhan, is everything alright, this place is kind of dead.”

Siobhan looked up, “Most everyone’s over at the campus, bomb threat in the concert hall. Chief Becker asked me to stay here until further notice. I’m sure he thought it was for the best but it leaves me to my thoughts which lead to my brother and his wife and the call earlier that she’s in the hospital.”

Kyle nodded with sympathy and sat down in the chair across from her. “What’s wrong with your brother’s wife?”

Siobhan sighed, “I don’t even know. I got a call she was rushed to one of the hospitals in Nashville earlier but no word on why or if she’ll be alright, or on how the baby is doing.”

“Yikes, well think about no news is good news, right?”

“I sure hope your right Kyle.” She told him as the radio in the room went off and Becker’s voice filled the room.

“We need you here right now Lane, and get someone from the DA’s office to handle the crowd and press.”

“Well, you want to handle the crowd?” Siobhan asked as she got up and checked for her gun and badge.

“Better then sitting in the office waiting for someone to prosecute.” Kyle told her as she grabbed her keys and they left the squad room.

Pizza Company—Nashville

Brock looked over the menu as he waited for his old college friend Wink Montana to arrive. Whatever it was Wink wanted to discuss, Brock was sure it was an out of this world request.

“Brock baby!” called out the super eager voice of Wink, a shorter man, thin, but not scrawny with dark hair and a conning smile.

“Wink, how are you?” Brock asked as his friend sat down across from him.

Wink smiled, “I’m wonderful, and I’ll be super wonderful if you agree to my proposal.”

Brock sighed, and wondered why they couldn’t even order first. “And what is this amazing proposal you are here to offer?”

“Let’s order first then I’ll tell you.” Wink said just as the waiter came over and took their orders.

“Well, tell me Wink, what is your latest brilliant plan?” Brock asked as he took a sip of his cola.

“Well I’m going to be hosting a new reality TV show called Love and Honor, where a bachelor will pick from ten women the one he’ll marry. The girls will live in this amazing house and you’ll live in an amazing house as well called the Bachelor Castle, which will have a hot tub—“

“Where I’ll live, Wink you are not seriously thinking of having me as this bachelor are you?” Brock asked, drilling his stare into Wink.

“Well, I was hoping you would. Come on now, its not like in the end you’ll actually marry this woman. I mean so far out of all the dating shows only one couple’s gotten married, most of them break up or decide to just be friends.”

“Comforting, why do you want me?”

Wink smiled, “Well you’re hansom, rich, single, you’re perfect for Love and Honor. Who knows maybe you’ll even find a girl you like.”

Brock leaned back in his chair and looked at his dear friend, “When does taping start?”

“In a few weeks, we’re still accepting applications on the website until tomorrow at midnight. Then we’ll sift through them, do interviews, and pick the ten girls you’ll choose from.” Wink informed him as their pizza’s were set in front of them. “So will you do it?”

Brock looked at his friend, “Why not what do I have to lose? Though I do need an hour to myself everyday so I can watch All My Children.”

“Great! It’s going to be so much fun, and I’m going to be the host. You’re going to love it!”

Outside Nebraska’s

Ciel and Dan walked out of the restaurant and into the afternoon sun of downtown Pinõn Hallow. They held hands and walked down the street towards the river. “This place is just beautiful this time of year.” Ciel said in amazement.

“Just wait until you see it in the summer, when the rafters are on the water its like a whole different world.” Dan explained as they stopped at the bridge and watched the water flowing.

“Pinõn Hallow is a different place from where I grew up. My parents, would never step foot in a place like this unless they had to.” Ciel leaned against the railing and Dan stood in front of her for a moment. The nervous tension in the air between them seemed to slowly disappear as he leaned closer and kissed her softly, slowly and she kissed back.

When they pulled apart Ciel smiled, “Wow, that was—“

“Good?” Dan asked, unsure of himself.

“It was completely amazing, like out of a fairytale.” She explained.

Hesperus ParkFort Lewis CollegeDurango

Larry and Ariel sat on the somewhat green grass of the new park eating lunch and enjoying the wonderfully warm weather they were having.

“This is really nice.” Ariel said as she leaned back, letting the Colorado sun wash over her skin.

“Especially since most students haven’t even noticed it yet. So it’s pretty quite over here.” Larry explained as he took a deep breath and reached into his pocket for the box. “Ariel, I know we’ve only been dating like a month, but I’ve fallen for you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Ariel looked over at Larry, pushing her sunglasses onto her head. “Larry, what are you saying?”

Larry opened up the box and presented Ariel with a silver turquoise ring, “Ariel Baptista, will you marry me?”

Ariel smiled, “Yes, I’ll marry you Larry!”

He placed the ring on her finger and then kissed her, a moment later a shadow covered them and was coupled with a cough. “Daddy?”

Larry and Ariel looked up, blushing when they saw Cassie, who looked far from happy. “What’s going on Cassie?”

Cassie took a slow breath, “I got a call from Kevin, Maggie’s in the hospital in Nashville.” Her words came out unevenly and she paused a moment before continuing, “Maggie, Maggie lost the baby Daddy.” Once the words were released she began crying and dropped to her knees onto the blanket, and was found herself wrapped in the arms of her father, who was also crying.

Pinõn Hallow College Concert Hall—Basement

“Are you sure about this Becker?” Siobhan asked as they slowly walked towards the door of the basement storage area.

“Yeah, I am. The bomb squad said they cleared the room of an explosive but they thought someone might still be inside.” He explained as they each took a side of the door. “Pinõn Hallow Police, we know you’re in there! Open the door!”

Before they could get the door open, something exploded and both Siobhan and Becker were thrown backwards, with parts of the door laying on top of them.

Pinõn Hallow College Concert Hall—Outside

“Afternoon, I’m Kyle Roberts from the DA’s office, right now we have officers in a search and rescue mission looking for the two officers that went into the Concert Hall shortly before the explosion.” Kyle said as he stood in front of a gaggle of reporters and cameras. “At this moment we believe they are alive and have no reason to believe otherwise, and that they will be out shortly. Thank you, that is all for now.”

Kyle then stepped away, not allowing them any chance to ask any questions as he went back over to the group of officers waiting outside for word. “Is there anything on Becker and Lane yet?”

A young male officer looked at Kyle, “Not yet sir, but we think they were on their way down to the basement when the explosion happened.”

“Damnit!” Kyle declared as he looked around, “we need to get them out of there, and we need to have them alive.”

“Trust me sir, that’s what we all want.”

Pinõn Hallow College Concert Hall—Basement

Siobhan opened her eyes and tried to move but something was on top of her, something that was too heavy for her to move. She looked over and saw Becker waking up. “Hey you’re awake, good to know.”

“Thanks.” He told her as he tried to sit up, “damn.”

“I think they’re looking for us.” Siobhan told him as she tried to keep her eyes open, “I know I’m not dying yet, I can’t, I haven’t met the man a fortune teller told me I would.”

Becker smiled, “You believe in that stuff?”

“Well not really, but hey if I can meet a man who has the name she told me, I’ll be thrilled.” She confessed.

Becker sighed, “Well then its probably not me, unless the guy is named Shamus.”

“Shamus? How did you know that’s the name she gave me?” Siobhan asked, wishing she could get this thing off of her.

“I didn’t, my name is Shamus.” He confessed.

“That’s the big secret? Shamus Becker?”

“Chief? Detective Lane? Is that you?” called out a voice from above.

“Yes! We’re down here, trapped under debris!” called out Siobhan.

Pinõn Hallow College Concert Hall—Outside

Kyle once again stood in front of the reporters, “Both Chief Becker, and Detective Lane are safe and at Memorial Hospital getting treated for their injuries. The officers in the search also found the body of the suspect believed to plant the bomb. That’s all we have for you this afternoon.”

Ciel’s Room—Angel Ski Resort

Ciel unlocked the door and she and Dan entered. When she turned on the lights she screamed and jumped into Dan’s arms. “Mom, Dad, what the hell are you doing here?” she asked as she held on to her boyfriend.

Callie Beaumont stood up, her blond hair wrapped tightly into a French twist, “We’ve come to talk some sense into you Ciel. Now get out of that boys arms and listen to us.”

George Beaumont sat on the bed, drilling his stare into Dan, trying to make the boy nervous.

Ciel put her feet back on the floor, “Mom, Dad, I like it here, I’m not going home with you all.” She informed them as she held onto Dan’s hand.

“Oh you sure as hell are young lady. You’re fiancé is worried you’ve changed your mind about marrying him.” George said as he stood up revealing his height.

Dan gulped as he squeezed Ciel’s hand.

“Daddy, I broke up with Arnold. I know you and Mom are not happy about it, but that was my decision, I made it deal with it.” Ciel released Dan’s hand and opened the door, “Now either accept it or don’t, but if you don’t just leave right now.”

Callie and George exchanged glances, “We’ll discuss this later Ciel.” Her mother said before they left.

Ciel slammed the door and shook her head, “I can’t believe this.”

Dan looked at her, “Why didn’t you tell me you’d been engaged?”

Ciel sighed, “It didn’t matter to me. I was never in love with Arnold. My parents basically arranged the entire thing.”

Dan didn’t look convinced at all as he listened to her.

“Dan, I’ve never even been close to loving someone until I met you. I know it sounds silly, but I’m falling in love with you, more and more each second.” She told him as she took his hands in hers and pulled him closer.

Dan smiled, “I’m falling in love with you to Ciel. Here I thought I’d be the Adams kid that never felt this.” He leaned over and kissed her softly, and she pulled him down onto the bed with her.

Trista’s Apartment

Kyle walked in, “Trista, you here?” he called out as he tossed his keys on the table and saw an application for Love and Honor. He picked it up and saw that she had filled it out.

“Hey Kyle.” She said as she came out of the bathroom with her robe on and was towel drying her hair.

“What’s this?” he asked as he looked over at her.

“It’s just an application, what’s the big deal. You and I are only having sex.” Trista tossed her towel onto one of the kitchen chairs and took the application back, “besides there only picking ten women, my chances are slim as hell.”

Kyle shook his head, “Well if that’s what you think, go ahead sign up. I don’t give a damn.” He grabbed his keys and went to the door. “Have fun whoring yourself on TV for some guy that even if you did win, you wouldn’t marry, they never get married!”

“Fine, I will and if I get picked you and watch me on the show and realize you missed your chance with me Kyle!” She yelled at him, just as he slammed the door.

Trista looked at the application, that hadn’t been the reaction she expected, she had only used it to see what he thought of their relationship and apparently just sex was it. There was only one thing she could do now, and that was sign up for Love and Honor.
