Episode 2.14

Hallow Hotel—Room Six

“Deep breaths Lane, very deep breaths.” Kevin said as he tried to calm himself before knocking on his wife’s door. He lifted his balled up hand to hit the wood.

A moment later the door opened and Kevin found himself face to face with an African-American man, “Is this Maggie Lane’s room?”

“It belongs to Maggie Williams.” Luke Campbell said, “Maggie some guy is here to see you.”

Maggie came out, dressed in jeans and a pale purple top and tried to smile when she saw her husband. “Kevin, what are you doing here?”

“I came to talk to you Maggie, I want to work things out.” He said trying not to let his focus fall on Luke, “Who’s the guy?”

“An old friend.” She stated, stepping out onto the walkway and closing the door behind her, “let’s walk.”

“Good idea.” Kevin said as they started towards the sidewalk and then the park. “Maggie, you know I never would’ve slept with Jade if I’d been sober and you hadn’t left to go visit your father in Durango.”

She nodded, “I know Kevin, but the thing is, there’s more to it then just you sleeping with Jade.” She ran a hand through her blond hair and smiled, “Come on Kevin, the day we met I was upset about Conner, you had just lost Eddie. We were looking for something in each other, that we thought we found. The thing is, we didn’t.”

“You’re right, I know you’re right. I thought maybe we could still have a chance.” He sat down on a park bench and looked up at the clouds. “So, if you slept with Conner after we got married, then I’m guessing he was your first right?”

Maggie turned a bright shade of pink, “Yeah he was, he got so mad I was married though and stormed out.” She sat down besides him, “If he hadn’t of stormed out, I would’ve asked you for an annulment.”

Kevin nodded, “I figured as much.” He chuckled, “You know a year ago I was in Nashville, and my life was on a very different path, I’d probably be engaged to that bitch Jade by now.”

“I guess things happen for a reason, this was probably in some twisted way to protect you from Jade, and who knows perhaps to get me back in contact with my mother.”

“Your mother?” the confusion was brutal in his voice.

“Yeah, the therapist they sent to talk to me in Nashville, that was my mother. Well, she showed up in Durango, with my younger brother, Gary.”

“You never mentioned a younger brother.”

Maggie nodded her head, “I didn’t know he existed. Oh, and then he asked if my dad and mom were getting back together and my Dad announces he’s going to marry Ariel, Cassie’s coach.”

Kevin shook his head, “I guess I’m getting out just in time, with my luck your mother would hit on me.”

Maggie tried not to laugh but it didn’t happen, “Sorry, but I could actually see that.” She composed herself, “So I guess we’re getting a divorce then, huh?”

“Yeah I guess so, besides your heart belongs to Conner and Colorado, mine to music and Nashville. You were never happy there, I lied to myself that you were and that you could be.”

Hallow Hills—Pool House

Abby sat on the black leather couch in the living room as Chad Davis re-entered the room, “Sorry about that, Fallon is a bit fussy today. What can you tell me about your child care experience.

Abby looked up with a soft smile, “Well, I worked through out college at Pinõn Peaks day care center, working with infants and pre-school age. I also was a private baby sitter for Conner McKay’s daughter, Lysa.”

Chad nodded, “That’s good because Lysa will be around since Del and Fallon are her siblings.” He picked up the resume, “it says you teach Sunday school as well, would you continue doing that?”

“Yeah, I would, I couldn’t leave the kids. I’m also taking on a youth group of teenagers in the evenings.”

“Miss Adams, honestly you’re the only applicant that hasn’t driven me crazy within five minutes. I think this will be good, for you and me, and of course Del and Fallon. We can arrange pay and hours through the agency as required, is their any day you specifically need off?”

“Just Saturday evenings and Sunday’s of course.”

“Your boyfriend won’t mind if you work nights?”

Abby looked down at her hands, “I’m single at the moment, I was dating Reverend Jacobs but we decided to be just friends.”

“Well, now that I don’t have to worry about a jealous boyfriend, welcome. I just hope my mother doesn’t drive you too crazy when she stops by, she adores the twins already and I’m lucky I still have them and she hasn’t claimed them as her own.”

“Thank you very much Mr. Davis.”

Chad cocked his head, “Mr. Davis is my father and uncle, please call me Chad.”

“I couldn’t, it wouldn’t be professional.” She shook her head.

“Alright then, Miss Adams I’ll call the agency and they’ll have hours and pay set and let you know when you can start.”

“Thank you again Mr. Davis.” She stood up and took her purse and went to the door.

Chad followed her and opened it, “I’ll see you in a few days Miss Adams, until then, I hope everything is well.”

Abby took a few steps out before looking back, “You too Mr. Davis.”

Love and Honor Set

Wink Montana stared at the camera as, Ophelia, Trista, and Joan all stood together in the living room set. Brock was by the podium with only two keys next to him.

“Welcome back to Love and Honor.” Wink said with his ever so cheesy voice. “We’re getting close to the key ceremony, We’re down to Ophelia the spunky waitress from Nashville, Trista the Doctor from Pinõn Hallow, and Joan the retailer from Denver. Before we proceed, Brock has a few things to say to the girls.”

The camera shifted to Brock and he smiled, “This has been the most difficult key ceremony to date. While I was sitting upstairs, in the deliberation room, I thought about all three of you, and how much I’ve grown to care about each of you. Right now, however I have to tell one of you good-bye. Before I hand out the keys I just want to say that this woman, deserves to find happiness in her life, and I hope she does. In fact I know the perfect guy for her, too bad he’s married.”

Wink let out a lion like laugh and the girls look at him curiously, “Let’s begin the key ceremony.”

Brock took a long, deep breath and picked up the first key.

The three women all held hands to show some sort of unity. Each feeling nervous, Trista wondering if she would soon be begging Kyle to forgive her, Ophelia wondering if this was her only chance at love, and Joan wondering if Brock still remembered their closet kiss.

“The first key goes to Trista.” Brock spoke calmly.

Trista broke the circle and stepped forward accepting the key from Brock and kissing his cheek. She moved back to the girls as he got ready to speak again.

After a long silence he looked at the key and then from Ophelia to Joan and back again, “The final key this evening goes to Joan.”

Joan stepped forward and softly said thank you as she took the key.

Brock looked at Ophelia who stepped forward and took his hands, “I’m sorry, it had to be this way, if I could have kept all three of you I would. But I had to make a choice.”

“I know Brock, and thank you for letting me go this far. You are an amazing man, and either of these ladies will be lucky to have you.” She said, trying to hold back the tears building in her eyes.

Brock leaned down and kissed her cheek, “Thank you for letting me be a part of your life.”

Comfort Arms Hotel—Nashville

Kyle listened to the show and was actually happy for once to find out Trista had gotten a key; it meant his plan would work.

He looked over the map of Nashville and saw the warehouse listing for the studio owned by Wink Montana. After about twenty hours of searching online he had found just what he needed, now he knew how he was going to get Trista Silversky back.

He stood up and stretched his arms and reached into the pocket of his jeans and pulled out his cell phone. He went through the old numbers that he never used anymore, April’s and he suddenly wondered why he had a feeling he called her—but not really her. He shook his head ignoring the feeling and then hit the call button when Noah’s name was highlighted.

“Hey Noah,” Kyle began when the voice mail picked up, “Um, yeah, so I’m going to be on TV, at least I hope so. Listen, the finale of that reality show Love and Honor airs later this week. I’m going to be on it, if my plan works. Though um, if you can could you keep April away from it? Thanks, um, my cell number still works if you need me. Bye.”

Kyle turned off the cell phone and placed it on the night stand before laying back on the bed, looking triumphant, thrilled to know he was about to pull off one of the most romantic gestures in the world.

Methodist Church—Ethan’s Office

Abby walked into Ethan’s office; “Hey Rev, I have great news,” she was on a total high and her voice and body language showed it.

Ethan was sitting at his desk, grime nowhere near Abby’s energy, “What is it?”

“I got a job as a nanny!”

“For who?”

Abby sat down across from him, “For Chad Davis, I’ll be the nanny for the twins. But, I can still run the teen youth group and teach Sunday school.”

“That’s great.” He said perking up a bit.

“Ethan,” Abby began noticing his demeanor, “what’s going on?”

“I just talked to my mother, she felt it was time to let me in on a little secret.” Leaning forward, resting his elbows on the desk, “Apparently I’m adopted.”

“How could they not tell you?”

“I wish I knew, this is something I should’ve found out a very long time ago. I don’t know what I’m going to do, it does answer some questions though, but it creates a whole lot more.”

“Ethan, if you need anything, I’m here for you. You may be my ex-boyfriend, but you’re still my best friend.”

He smiled, cheering up for the first time, “Thanks, I just need to decide if I want to look for my real parents or not, mainly my father.”

“Whatever you decide I’ll be there for you. Besides this may take some time.”

“I’m sure it will.”
