Episode 2.16

Hallow Hills—Foyer

“I’m coming!” Adel called out for what seemed like the hundredth time since the doorbell had began ringing. She came down the stairs, with her bare feet hitting the marble stairs as she tugged her bathrobe tightly around her thin body. She got to the door and opened it, seeing Siobhan on the other side, “Detective Lane, what’s going on?”

Siobhan took a step in as Adel closed the door behind her, “Mrs. Davis, are you Dr. Carla Harrison’s sister?”

Adel groaned, “I am not bailing her out of jail. She can just rot there!”

Siobhan looked down, “Mrs. Davis, she hasn’t been arrested. She was found in the middle of the street, it appears someone hit her with a car.”

Adel straightened up, “Were their any witnesses?”

Siobhan shook her head, “No, too late at night for anyone to be downtown. We think she was crossing the street to her car. That’s all we know.”

Adel found herself leaning against the wall, “Thank you detective, may I ask when her body will be released, I’d like to have the arrangements made as quickly as possible.”

Siobhan took out a notebook, “Tomorrow morning, you can call this number and have it sent to which ever funeral home you wish.” She ripped off a piece of paper and handed it to Adel.

“Thank you Detective, goodnight.”

“Good night.” Siobhan replied as she left.

Adel closed the door and shook her head for a moment before smiling, “Ding dong the witch is dead!”

Hallow Hills—Doug’s Study

Doug sat at the large oak desk, typing away as the phone rang, he lifted the receiver to his ear, “Doug Davis, what’s up?” he asked casually.

Dougie! It’s Kathryn; we need you in Paris, or more importantly, I need you.” Spoke the soft female voice on the other end of the line.

Doug couldn’t help but smile, “You know I had to cut back on trips to Paris, Adel was getting suspicious, besides you weren’t even around the last time.”

“I had to take care of some stuff in Rome, besides you were only around for a week.” Kathryn pouted.

Doug sighed, “I’ll see what I can do darling, no promises though.”

“But Doug, I have a very special surprise for you.”

“Then I’ll try very hard to get away. Listen, I hear Adel coming, I’ll see you soon darling.” Doug quickly hung up the phone right before Adel came into the room. “Adel, what’s going on?”

Adel took a few steps forward, “Detective Lane was just here, apparently someone ran Carla down in the middle of downtown today, no suspects. Did you know anything about it?”

“Adel if I knew wouldn’t I have told you?” he leaned back in his chair and smiled, “At least now no more worrying about her trying to interfere in the boys lives.”

“Yes, that is true.” Adel walked behind the desk and stood in front of him, “Doug, lets go to bed.” She took his hand and pulled him up.

Doug smiled and slid his hands into her robe and began to kiss her neck.

The Java Jet

Maggie came out of the office and saw that Conner and his lady friend were still sitting in the corner. She saw him stand up and take their cups to the trash before they both left, arm in arm.

“So, how is being the new manager of Imagination working out?” Conner asked as they walked down the corridor towards the parking lot.

“Wonderful, it really comes in handy with a two year old.”

“I bet, Maggie, the old manager would give me her discount when I bought stuff for Lysa since she had no real use for it.”

“You really cared about her, didn’t you?” Grace asked, pulling her long red locks away from her face.

“She was my best friend, that’s all. Besides she’s married now, living in Nashville.”

Grace smiled and nodded, “I better go, Jasmine’s with a sitter and I don’t think I can afford another seven dollars an hour.” She took a few steps away before turning back, “Good night Conner.”

Conner stood there for a moment, a smile washing over his face as he watched Grace walk away. Maybe he could find love once more.

The Adams Apartment

Abby came in and walked right past Dan, “Night Bro, long day, need sleep.” She said with a detour to the kitchen to grab a slim fast and then off to her room.

Dan had watched her on her path to sleep and then looked back down at the paper he was filling out, “I hope I get in, please God I need a new direction.” He picked up the form, “The Police Academy, here I come.” He picked up the pen and signed his name at the bottom before stuffing it into an envelope.

Hallow Hotel—Room Six

Maggie came in and saw Luke laying on the bed. “Hey, anything good on?”

“Just some whacked out reality show, with this crazy guy interrupting the action.” Luke pointed towards a replay of Love and Honor, with Kyle running after Trista.

“I know her! She lives in my old building, and this is the show with my soon-to-be ex-husband’s boss.” She sat on the bed next to Luke.

“I think this guy used to live in Heaven Beach.” He said knowing Kyle looked familiar. He shook his head and turned it off, “Its amazing how those things suck you in.”

“Yeah it is.” Maggie said as she pulled her blond hair back into a ponytail and stretched out her arms. “So, obviously, I’m the new manager of the Java Jet.”

Luke stood up and pulled her with him, “That’s great baby doll.” He said lifting her in the air.

Maggie held onto him and their eyes caught each others for a moment, he slowly placed her down back on her feet not breaking their gaze at all.

Luke leaned down and pressed his lips gently against hers.

Maggie responded, pulling Luke closer for a moment, before pulling away. “Wow, Luke.”

“I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened, I mean gosh you’re still married.”

“Yeah that I am, well only legally, never really in my heart.” She stepped away, “We can just forget it happened, no big deal we’ve kissed tons of times before.”

Luke watched her go towards the bathroom, “One difference, we were dating then.”
