Episode 2.22

Siobhan’s Apartment

The television news was on as Siobhan put a pot of water on the stove and started the heat. She went to the cabinet and took down a box of rice when she heard the knocking at her door, “Come in!” she called out and a moment later Conner stood in her kitchen.

As she was measuring the rice out she looked up, “Conner what’s wrong?”

“Maggie.”

“What about her?” Siobhan asked hoping she wasn’t giving any sign she had seen her.

“I was in the food court yesterday, this is pathetic really I mean I’m dating Grace, she’s a wonderful woman.”

Siobhan sighed, “Point, now McKay. Before the water boils.”

Conner rolled his eyes, “I could’ve sworn I saw Maggie and I was so filled with joy that I ran across the food court and came face to face with someone that wasn’t Maggie.”

“You really do love her to the moon and back, listen Conner if you and Maggie are going to make it you will. Let’s say if or rather when she’s ready to handle the part of her life that you fit into you’ll find her in your arms again.”

He sighed, “So this means you haven’t heard from her, no calls or e-mails?”

Siobhan nodded, “I can honestly say I haven’t gotten any calls or e-mails from Maggie. I do know that Kevin sent her divorce papers so she’ll be free from her marriage soon. But when he and I talked last, it sounded like there were a few other things she wanted to deal with first.”

“What if she never comes back though?”

“Then you need to move on Conner.” Siobhan hated not telling him about Maggie, but it was far from her place.

“I can only try right? Besides Maggie will come back, I know it; I trust that her heart and mine are joined. She’ll be back, she has to be.”

“I hope your right, for your sake Conner.”

He chucked, “I hope so to.”

Pinõn Hallow Airport

Maggie ran a hand through her blond hair, “When do your classes start up again?”

Luke looked up and gave her a half smile, “End of August, but remember if you ever need anything I’m just a phone call away.”

“Thank you, if you need me, call me.” She took out her address book and wrote down a number, “This is my new number as of today.”

“Flight 7309 is now boarding rows 18 thru 12.”

Luke looked up, “Well that’s me. I’ll call you soon, I promise.”

He and Maggie both stood up and he kissed her cheek before joining the line of passengers.

Maggie watched him board the plane before leaving the airport.

Hallow Hills—Main House

The afternoon sun was bright as Adel stepped out onto the patio. The door slide open and Jeff came out.

“Don’t you work?” Adel asked him.

“Yes, but what I do takes me out at nights, what about you?”

“I was in meetings all morning, I also have a very dedicated staff that is organized an on task.” She folded her arms over her chest, “Usually I have charity meetings in the afternoon, but today my schedule was clear.”

Ahh, good excuse.” He stood next to her looking out at the skyline, the mountains in the distance, “I love this place, something so comforting about it.”

“Yeah, I wish I had grown up here, thankfully Chad and Kip had a good childhood, better then mine and better then the one that they would’ve had if Charlene hadn’t pretended to die.” She sighed and turned to Jeff, “How come you never got married or had kids?”

Jeff looked down for a moment, “Who knows maybe I have a few kids out there and just don’t know it.”

Adel smiled, “And why haven’t you gotten married?”

Jeff’s eyes looked into hers for a moment, “All the good ones are taken.”

Adel felt a blush caress her cheeks, “You’re such a cad.”

Jeff cupped her chin in his right hand and smiled, “Only because I can’t have you.” He said in a half whisper before letting his lips meet hers.

Adel began to kiss him back before she pulled back, just looked at him for a moment before shaking her head and retreating into the house.

Kathryn’s Apartment—Paris

Kathryn walked into her living room and saw Doug standing there with a piece of paper. “Evening Kathryn, we have something to discuss.”

Kathryn perked up, “You’re leaving Adel!”

Doug shook his head and tossed the paper on the couch and took several menacing steps towards her, “I am not leaving Adel, I want Quincy now Kathryn.”

“Are you saying your going to take my daughter?”

A somewhat evil smile crossed his face, “I’m taking my daughter, and this little paper gives me full custody.” He picked it up and unfolded it, “And you signed it today at the office. You my little kitten have signed away any right you have to her.”

Kathryn shook her head, “No, you are not taking my little girl.”

Doug leaned in face close to hers, “I am, she’ll be raised by me and Adel and you Ryn will be far, far away from her.” He pushed her down onto the couch and then went into the Nursery. He picked up the baby and carried her into the living room. “Jerome!” he called out.

A moment later a large man came in dressed in black, “Yes sir?”

“Make sure Miss Layden doesn’t come after me and my daughter.” Doug looked down at the terrified Kathryn, “Sorry Darling, but I will not be kept from any child of mine, I never have been before.”

“Doug please do not take my daughter.” She pleaded with tears in her eyes.

Doug stood in the doorway, “You kept her from me, what’s fair is fair. Jerome, take care of her.”

Siobhan’s Apartment

Conner had left a little while before and Siobhan sat down on the couch to watch television when the knocking began again, “Come on in.” she called out, seriously starting to wonder why everyone came to her for advice.

“Hey, Siobhan.” Maggie said as she closed the door.

Siobhan looked up, “I didn’t expect you to come to the building, is something wrong?”

“No, why?” Maggie sat down on the chair by the couch, “What’s going on?”

“Conner was here just a little while ago.” She sat up and looked at her friend, “He thought he saw you in the mall and chased some poor woman down.”

Maggie closed her eyes for a moment, “yesterday in the food court?”

Siobhan nodded, “How did you know?”

“I saw him and I left before he could see me. Maybe he saw me but in the excitement spotted another woman similar and chased her down?”

“Probably, but Maggie you can’t hide from him forever. He’s going to see you sooner or later.”

“I know, but I mean I don’t know what to do when I see him, the last time I saw him I had just miscarried and saw my mother for the first time in over ten years, before that, God I we had made love and then he found out I married Kevin.” Tears were forming in her eyes, “I made mistakes with him Siobhan, I don’t know if he can ever forgive me. I think its better, honestly better if I stay away from him.”

Siobhan nodded, “Maggie, if you love Conner give him a chance, a real one this time. No pushing him away for a silly reason. Truly give him you’re heart.”

“And if he pushes me away?”

Siobhan smiled, “Trust me, I doubt he’ll do that.”

Maggie stood up, “I’ll think about it, Siobhan, if he asks if you’ve heard from me, just could you tell him I’ll be in touch with him soon.”

“Yeah, I’ll do that next time he asks. Go home and get some sleep.”

Maggie chucked, “Not likely, I have a whole house to unpack. Thankfully I still had my furniture in storage.”

“Where are you living?”

Shavano Court, I’m renting a house with an option to buy.”

“Wow, definitely a step up from Pinõn Peaks.”

Maggie stood up and went to the door, “I’ll call in a few days. Thanks Siobhan.”

“No problem, now go before Conner shows up and you two nut cases actually have to talk to each other.”

“I’m going, night.” Maggie said before leaving.

Siobhan turned back to the television and then picked up her cordless phone, hitting a speed dial number, “Hey when are you coming over tonight? Yeah I’ve got star crossed lovers invading, I’d much rather have my lover.” There was a pause for a moment; “Alright I’ll see you then. If I don’t answer the door I’ll be in the shower, just use the spare key.
