Episode 2.25

PHPD

Becker had just left the office to go pick up an order at the Java Jet, when a woman came in, looking completely frazzled. Her red hair looked as though she had run her hands through it about four hundred times in a short amount of time. “Excuse me.” She asked one of the officers, “Who would I go to report a stolen purse to?”

The officer looked at her for a moment, “Det. Lane, she’s right over there. She’s on desk duty so she’s your best bet.”

The woman nodded and went over to Siobhan’s desk, “Are you Det. Lane?”

Siobhan looked up, “Yeah I am, what can I do for you?”

She sat down in the chair next to the desk, “My purse got stolen down town. I had everything in it, like $50 in cash, four credit cards, my ids, everything except my keys.”

Siobhan took out a piece of paper and began filling in the information, “And what is the name on your ID’s and credit cards?”

“Sally Payne, though one is set up for my business.” She said, “Which is listed as Nails by Sally.”

Siobhan nodded, “Can you describe what the person who ran off with your purse looked like?”

“Well,” Sally began, “he was taller then me, maybe half a foot, bleached blond hair, white, um I saw his face for a second, um hazel eyes maybe, with a pudgy nose, round cheeks.”

Siobhan jotted this all down, “Sadly, this is the third purse snatching this week. I would call your credit card companies and have everything cancelled as soon as possible.”

“And chances of recovering my purse?” Sally asked.

“We’re looking into this, I suspect that we can at least catch them.” Siobhan told her.

Sally sighed, “Thank you.” She glanced at her watch, “Damn I need to get to work, we’re setting up displays before the day spa opens.”

Siobhan picked up her card, “This is my number if your credit card company calls with news of your cards being used, call me.”

“I will.” Sally said before walking out of the squad room.

A few moments later as Siobhan was typing up the report Becker came in with the coffee and placed a cup on Siobhan’s desk, “Is this another purse snatching?”

Siobhan looked up, “Yeah, a woman named Sally Payne. We should just set a decoy up in the middle of town. Someone who looks out of place. All three of these women seem out of place, the first two were tourists, but this last one, I think she’s just new to town. She mentioned working at the new day spa. You know the one opening in the mall.”

“I’ll see what I can set up.” He said as he tapped a pen in his hand, “I’ll be in the office if you need me.”

Becker left and Siobhan starred at his door for a moment, “That was odd.”

The Java Jet

“2.73 is your change.” Maggie said as she handed a customer back their change, before they turned to walk away and her eyes were met with those of Carsyn Raleigh once again. “Dr. Raleigh, I mean Carsyn, what a surprise.”

Carsyn smiled his million-dollar smile and Maggie thought she would melt. “Actually I had a goal when I came here.”

“Let me guess a triple vanilla frozen frappacino.”

“Close, I did order one, my goal was actually to ask you out for a movie tonight.”

“Really?” Maggie asked as his coffee was placed next to the register and she rang him up, “Isn’t this like wrong since you were my doctor?”

“You were my patient for five minutes. So unless you plan to come into the ER at least once a week, we’d have a problem. But otherwise you’re just a very attractive woman who has peaked my interest. I want to learn more about you then medical facts.”

“It’s $3.89” she looked down as she felt the blush rush over her, “How about you go over to that table and we can talk about this.”

“Sounds good.” He said as he put four singles down, “just toss the change in here.” He pointed to the penny jar and she nodded.

“Jill, take over on register.” Maggie called out before she went to sit with Carsyn, “Well Carsyn, before I say yes you’ve got to tell me something about yourself.”

“Well, I’m 29 years old, I have a younger sister who’s attending UCLA. I grew up in Northern New Jersey, a nice little town called Summit. I graduated from Summit High, and then went to NYU. I moved to Pinõn Hallow in 2002, and since then I’ve been working in the ER. In my free time, which honestly isn’t much since one of the doctors has been on leave since she did a reality show, I love mystery novels, and camping, hiking, all that out doors stuff. As a child I spent my summers at the shore, I love the water.” He smiled, “Now tell me about yourself.”

Maggie nodded, “Fair is fair, well I’m a Colorado native, I grew up in Durango where my father is a college professor. My mother is a therapist, and now practices in Nashville. I’m recently divorced having just sent out the papers a few days ago. I moved to Pinõn Hallow a few years ago, right after I graduated college, and I was manager of Imagination Clothing, until the end of this last year. That’s when my now ex-husband and I moved to Nashville where he’s a music writer. I moved back here after we decided to divorce and now I’m the manager of The Java Jet, I just moved into an amazing rental house. Oh and my father is about to marry someone my age.”

“Wow.” Carsyn said, “Very colorful. So what about that movie tonight?”

“You really don’t give up do you?”

Carsyn leaned closer on the table, “Nope, I always try to reach my goals.”

Maggie nodded, “Alright, but only if we can catch the early show.”

“Deal.” Carsyn said before taking a sip of his frozen coffee.

Kyle’s Apartment

“So when do you start back up at the hospital?” Kyle asked as he chopped up some vegetables.

“In a couple of days.” Trista answered as she took out the sour cream from the fridge, “Dr. Raleigh has been picking up my slack and honestly he’ll be in need a of a good vacation. When do you go back to the office?”

“Tomorrow, chances are I won’t be drowned with work. But you never know.” He said as the door opened and Siobhan came in.

“Thank god you’re here!” she said when she saw the two of them.

“Hello to you to Siobhan, um what’s going on?” Kyle said as he glanced at Trista.

“I was going to water the plants but since you’re here I need some advice.”

“About what?” Trista asked as she picked up a carrot and began munching on it.

“How to make a relationship last more then a month.” Her eyes pleaded with them.

“Are you and Becker having problems?” Kyle asked as he began mixing sour cream with some spices.

“Well no, but I’ve never had a relationship last more then a month.”

“Well your first step.” Trista began, “is to relax, I’ve seen how he looks at you. He’s crazy about you. Don’t worry, it’s all right. Relax and enjoy being with him. Everything will work out.”

“I’m freaking out over nothing, right?”

They both nodded, “Listen,” Kyle began, “Siobhan, relationships have their bumps in the road. It takes dedication to work past them. Sometimes people are complete morons and wait until the last minute and have to do something drastic. Which I recently proved.”

“What Kyle is trying to say is, don’t set up problems. Just go with the flow, and let the relationship develop in full force.” Trista sat down next to Siobhan, “Relax, enjoy the romance of your relationship. You two still have a lot to learn about each other, but don’t force that information to come forward. You’ll both reveal stuff when the time is right. Just focus on the here and now, that’s all you can really do.”

Siobhan sighed, “So basically I need to relax and realize not every little thing is a key to disaster.”

“Exactly.” Kyle said, “Besides its not like he’s got a wife and kids somewhere. He’s a good man, and he loves you. Trust me I’ve seen the look on his face when I barge into your apartment.”

“You’re lucky you’ve never walked in on anything.”

“So are you.” Trista said with a smile as she stood up and went over to kiss Kyle’s cheek. “So relax about Becker and just go with the flow.”

“I’ll try, but no guarantees.”

Hallow Hills—Pool House

The twins were fast asleep in the other room as Abby sat on the couch reading Pool House of Passion.

His hand slid down her back as she ran her fingers through his thick black hair. Their lips met in a kiss hotter then a bonfire. She began unbuttoning his shirt with her finger tips as her lips kissed down his neck. Never before in her life had she felt like this.

“Miss Adams? Abby?” Chad asked snapping her out of the world of her book.

“Oh. Mr. Davis, I’m sorry I drifted off a bit, is something wrong?” Abby asked placing the book down beside her.

“No, actually I was going to ask you that.” Chad sat down next to her.

“I’m fine, I just have a few things on my mind. Like should I move back in with my parents for the next few months or take Reverend Jacobs up on his offer for me to stay with him.”

“Didn’t you and Reverend Jacobs used to date?”

Abby nodded, “Yeah that’s where things get, shall we say sticky.”

Chad smiled, “Yeah, that could work. Why not just stay in your apartment.”

“Dan’s going to be gone and it might just be weird.”

“Well there is another option. You could move in here. I mean there is a spare room that could be yours. It would be perfect since you are Del and Fallon’s Nanny.”

Abby looked down at her hands for a moment and then back up at Chad, “I would prefer to keep a place of my own. You know, not to confuse the kids. Before you know it they’ll be walking around ya know. Besides, that would create more gossip then me staying with Ethan would.”

“You’re probably right. Besides this family will have enough gossip now that my Uncle Jeff is back and my father is insisting he and my mother adopt a daughter that he’s bringing back with him from Paris.”

“Oh wow, yeah the less gossip the better.” Abby chewed on her lower lip, “Mr. Davis if you need to talk, I’m here.” Just then one of the babies began crying, “I’ll go check on them.”

Abby stood up, leaving her book on the couch as she went to check on the baby. Chad watched her walk away, something about having Abby around was a comfort, and it made him feel that something would always be right in this world.

Angel Multiplex

“Well what did you think?” Carsyn asked as he and Maggie walked out from the movie.

Maggie shook her head, “I never would’ve pegged you as the type to cry at the end of Spiderman 2.” She said with a smile as she brought her pop straw to her lips and took one last sip.

“Yeah well, what can I say, I like to surprise people.” Carsyn pushed a stray lock of hair out from Maggie’s eyes.

“I can tell.” Maggie said before finding Carsyn’s lips on hers, in a soft, magnetic kiss that had her wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him closer.

Carsyn pulled away when he heard someone clear his throat next to them.

Maggie looked up and first she saw the red head, Grace and then holding Conner’s hand. She straightened up and tried not to look jealous. Carsyn smiled, “May we help you?”

Conner’s eyes drilled into Maggie’s, “Maggie Williams, is that you?”

Maggie narrowed her eyes, “Hi Conner.”

“Well look what the wind blew back into town.”

“Conner, this isn’t the time, or the place.”

“Obviously, because you didn’t want me to know you were back.” He shook his head, “Obviously I made a mistake caring.”

Maggie stepped away from Carsyn and pulled Conner away from Grace, “Look who’s talking. You and the new manager of Imagination Clothing, gosh what’s a girl to do? You really expect me to break up your relationship? Sorry but if you really knew me, you would know that’s not how I work.”

“How do you work Maggie? Do you just jump from guy to guy?” He leaned forward, his face only a few inches from hers.

“Carsyn was my doctor the other day. I’ve run into him a few times, that’s all. Why do you care, you have red over there.”

Conner took Maggie’s hand in his, “You know why Maggie.”

She snatched her hand out of his and covered her face for a moment before speaking, “Conner, we had one date. I think, that maybe we put too much emphasis on the possibilities because of how close we were as friends.” She closed her eyes for a moment, “I left Kevin, not because I didn’t love him, but because he cheated on me, he cheated on me right after I lost our baby. If I hadn’t walked in on it, I would be in Nashville now, still Mrs. Kevin Lane.”

Conner knew she was lying he just wasn’t sure about what, “Fine, be this way. I won’t push you, that’s not my style.”

Maggie opened her eyes, “Good-Bye Conner.” She went back over to Carsyn, “Could you take me back to my house. I feel a headache coming on.”

“Yeah no problem at all.” Carsyn said as they left the theatre.

Grace looked at her boyfriend, “What was that all about?”

“That’s just an old friend. I was hoping she wouldn’t make any mistakes, I guess I was wrong.” He looked at the tickets, “You ready to see Anchorman?”

“Yeah, I adore Will Ferrell.” She said as they entered the building.
