Episode 2.27

Dan and Abby’s Apartment

Abby walked into the living room and saw Dan’s bag on the couch. She sighed as she pulled her hair back into a pony tail and held it with an elastic she’d had around her waist. “Dan it’s only 7 am, why are you up this early?” she asked with a yawn as she walked into the kitchen.

“I have to leave in a few minutes. I didn’t wake I did you?” he was filling a Nalgene with coffee.

“No, I was up most of the night thinking about stuff, mainly Ethan.” She pushed herself up onto the counter. “He kissed me last night.”

“I thought you two broke up.” Dan looked at his sister with a raised eyebrow.

Abby nodded, “We did, and maybe it was a mistake.”

Dan sighed, “Abs, what are you going to do with out me?”

Abby smiled, “You’re not leaving for forever, just a few weeks, months really. If I can survive without Sam, I can survive for a short while with out you. Besides I’ll be here, I decided I won’t go back to Mom and Dad’s or stay with Ethan or move into Hallow Hills Pool House like Mr. Davis suggested.”

Dan watched his sister, “You are going to so need me when I get back.” He told her with a smile, “It’ll be good though to feel needed and to feel like I’ve finally accomplished something.”

“So how did Mom take the news?”

Dan chuckled, “She freaked of course, but it is Mom, she’s worried. I told her she didn’t have to like it, just accept it. Maybe in like twenty five years she’ll have accepted it.”

“Let’s hope so.” Abby smiled, “I’m gonna miss you big bro.”

“Yeah well I’ll miss you to sis. Who can I pick on?”

“Pick on? Yeah I think it’s the other way around kiddo.” She poked him and he grabbed her around the waist and hugged her.

“Just don’t do anything that I’ll have to hurt some guy about, okay?”

Abby put her right hand up in the air, “I promise I won’t do anything that will cause you to cause harm to a guy.”

“Good.” He sighed and looked around, “This is it.”

Dan went into the living room and picked up his bags and went to the door. “Take care sis.” He opened the door and then left.

Abby stood in the kitchen and watched another one of her brothers leave.

DI Offices—Pinõn Hallow

“Miss Davis, you’re back!” declared a secretary sitting outside her office.

Yes, that I am. I finished up what I had to in Paris. Please have the latest Sensual Sun Press Releases sent to me five minutes ago.” Laura ordered before entering her office. She went to the window and pulled the blinds up, letting in the sun and allowing her to look out at the Rocky Mountains that surrounded the town.

“Laura, you’re really back.” Jeff said as he walked into his sister’s office.

“Jeffrey, what are you doing in town?”

“I live here, I work here, it sort of makes sense to be here.” He sat down in the chair across from her desk. “So what brings you back, did you decide to keep an eye on our older brother Doug and his latest little adventure?”

Laura sighed, “Him and his new daughter?”

“Isabella, that’s what he and Adel decided to name her. I can’t believe Adel is going along with this.”

“Neither can I.” Laura sat down, “This is going to blow up in Doug’s face and its going to be bad.”

Jeff leaned forward, “What do you know that I don’t know?”

vv “Trust me, you don’t want to know. Doug is acting odd; he’s gotten into control freak mode again. I haven’t seen him like this since he and Adel adopted Chad and Kip.”

“Yeah, that was bad.” Jeff nodded, but something in his eyes told Laura he knew more about this then he was letting on. “So sister dear, since you’re home how about a nice big family dinner tonight to welcome you home and to welcome our new niece into the family.”

“Sounds perfect.” Laura replied as her secretary came in with a file of press releases. Laura opened it and the top one caused her to gasp.

“What is it?”

“Some idiot in Ginger Falls Hawaii is desperate to find out who Virginia Covington is, so instead of giving him the information on her, Sensual Sun Press decided to reveal who Raquel Davenport really is.” She passed the paper to her brother, “I didn’t even know that my ex-high school boyfriend John Adams, was Raquel.”

Jeff tried not to laugh, “Laura this just proves Mother was right to have you break up with him.”

Laura snatched the paper back from her brother, “Go to hell, hey how’s you’re love life or are you still mooning over Adel.”

Jeff narrowed his eyes, “I’m not mooning over her, and I love her.”

Laura looked down at the paper and at John’s picture. She hadn’t seen him in years, she knew what had happened though, he married Lydia and they had three kids. “I loved John.”

Ethan’s Office

Ethan walked in to his office with Clay Sapp. Clay wore khaki pants, a button down white shirt, and a blazer. “Mr. Sapp, I’m hiring you to find out who my biological parents are. From what my mother, adoptive mother that is said, well my Father might be the easiest to track down.” Ethan took out a folder and handed it to Clay. “She sent these, the adoption papers.”

Clay opened the file, “Interesting, I’ll start right away and get back to you as soon as possible.”

Ethan nodded, “How long do you think this will take?”

“Anywhere from a few days to a few months. All depending on how much red tape there is to hide the truth.” Clay looked at the papers once again, “Though judging from the papers, finding your father might not be too long, finding your mother might take longer.”

“Thank you, I mean if I can only find one that’s a start at least.”

“Yeah it is, I’ll be in touch soon.” Clay left the office and Ethan sat down at his desk.

Ethan picked up a picture of him and Abby in the park and he smiled, “Maybe things will start to work out again, and maybe we’ll be together again soon.”

Nebraska’s

“Miss Adams its fine, come on.” Chad pulled her into the restaurant with his family.

“Mr. Davis, this just feels well inappropriate. I should be back at the pool house with the twins. None of us should be here.”

“Of course you should.” Chad insisted as they went over to the table where his aunt, uncle and parents and another baby were seated. Chad placed the carrier with Del on the table and Abby did the same with Fallon. “So who’s this little one?”

Adel picked up Isabella, “This is your little sister, Isabella. Isabella this is your big brother Chad.”

Chad smiled, “Hey sis, I’ll try to be a good big brother, as I’m sure Kip will try if he comes back to town.” He looked down at his children, “Aunt Laura, Uncle Jeff, I’d like you to meet Del and Fallon Davis.”

Laura stood up and went over to Fallon, “They’re just precious Chad.” She then looked up at Abby, “and who would this young lady be.”

“I’m Abigail Adams, the twins Nanny.” She said nervously.

“Yes of course.” Laura looked over at Chad and winked before leaning over and whispering, “good pick kiddo.” When Laura looked up her eyes met with John Adams who was just then sitting down across the room.

John’s heart was racing when his eyes met with Laura Davis’ he shook his head and then pulled out a chair of Lydia. “Here you go honey.”

“Thank you.” Lydia looked up and saw Abby with the Davis family, “What’s Abigail doing over there?”

John sighed, “She’s the Nanny for Chad Davis, didn’t she tell you?”

Lydia shook her head, “No, we haven’t spoken for a while actually. The past few months she’s been very distant.”

“Oh, well Lydia part of why I brought you here tonight was to tell you something.”

“You’re not sick are you?” Lydia’s voice was filled with panic.

“No nothing like that.” He said with a smile, “Actually Sam already found out about this, but I thought you should know. My publisher, Sensual Sun Press released information to a paper in Ginger Falls, naming me as Raquel Davenport.”

Lydia laughed, “That’s ridiculous.” John looked serious and Lydia grew pale with shock, “you’re Raquel Davenport, the romance novelist?”

John nodded, “Yeah, that would be me.”

“You’re Raquel Davenport?” Abby asked as she came up to her parent’s table.

“Abs, this isn’t how I wanted to tell you.” John stood up his hands out to his daughter.

“Daddy, its okay really. I just feel a little weird knowing you wrote that stuff. I think I’ll be taking a break from the romance novels for a while.”

John laughed, “Thank you sweet heart.” He kissed her cheek.

“Abigail,” Lydia looked up at her daughter, “Why didn’t you tell me of your new job?”

Abby sighed, “Because you’ve been too busy selling your cosmetics to care. I better get back and check on Del and Fallon. I’ll call you soon Daddy.”

John looked at his wife, “What went wrong between you two?”

“I have no idea John, none at all.” Lydia shook her head, “I’m sure it’s just a phase.”

“Let’s hope so.” John said when his cell phone began to ring, “Let me go take this.”

John went towards the restrooms and answered his phone, finding no one there he hung up and was about to return to Lydia when he saw Laura standing at the door of the ladies room with a cell phone in her hand. “Long time no see John.”

“Yes, a very long time. Excuse me I should get back to my wife.”

Laura grabbed his arm and stopped him, “I’m sorry you were outted as Raquel, it happened before I returned to the states and before I could stop it.”

“It’s alright Laura.” John looked at her, taking in the image of the woman he had once loved.

“Abigail appears to be an amazing child, she and Chad get along well and she’s wonderful with his children. You must be very proud.”

John sigh, “Yes Laura I am. Lydia is waiting. Good bye.”

Laura watched John walk away and smiled, “Putty, that’s what he’ll be. Putty in my hands.”
