Episode 3.16

Hallow Hills—Chad’s Room

Abby felt the cold sheets against her body as she rolled over looking for the alarm clock, not on this side of the bed. She rolled over again, and almost on top of Chad.

He opened his eyes slowly, “morning.” his voice was dry.

Abby smiled as she finally saw the clock, “Go back to sleep, it’s only 4:17.”

“You’re not leaving are you?” he asked as his eyes met with hers.

She shook her head, “No, but you should get some more sleep.”

“I don’t need it.” he brushed her ragged hair from her eyes before kissing her.

“Yes you do.” she broke the kiss.

“All I need is you.” he pulled her closer to him, her body against his.

She kissed him on the mouth, then down to his neck, and finally nibbling on his ear.

Siobhan’s Apartment

Dan walked out of the bedroom, his head pounding, his sight blurry. He followed the path to the kitchen. Something was different about it this morning. He couldn’t figure out what though. He found it and that’s when he realized what was wrong. It wasn’t his kitchen.

Siobhan Lane sat at the counter drinking her coffee, a bottle of Tylenol sitting on the counter. She looked up and groaned, “That happened.”

Dan snatched the bottle of pills, “I guess it did.” he started to fiddle with the child proof lid when someone began banging on the door.

Siobhan sighed and went to get it when Dan stopped her.

He walked across her living room, wearing only his boxer shorts and opened her front door, to Becker.

“Shit.” Dan muttered and turned to Siobhan, who stood talk, arms crossed against her chest.

“I have nothing to say to you Shamus. So leave.”

Becker looked from Dan to Siobhan and back again, “Well I have something to say to you.”

“I’m gonna leave.” Dan announced before practically running to the bedroom in search of his clothes.

Siobhan sat back down at the counter and reached for her coffee, “Say it and get out.”

Becker came in, closed her door and sat across from her, “Siobhan, I love you. My past is just that, my past.”

“You lied about who you are.” She shook her head, “Are you even a real cop?”

Before he could answer, Dan came out carrying his shoes, “Um I’ll see you at the station later.”

Becker watched the younger man leave before looking back at Siobhan, “Yes, I am. Listen to me. Sally isn’t the woman I love. You are.”

She stood up and went into the kitchen. “Just leave. You’ve said your peace, go.” she opened a box of oatmeal cookies. “Its too late Shamus, or Joe. Whatever your name is. Its over.”

“Fine, but this isn’t over. You may think it is, but its not.” He stood up and walked to the door, “You’re my heart Siobhan.”

Hallow Hotel Room 15

Brighton looked over what he had on the bed, “I’ve got the rope, check. Duck tape, check. Gun, check.”

He smiled and picked up the gun, loading the bullets. He lifted it up and pointed it towards the wall and a picture he had taken of Abby and Chad. He acted as if he pulled the trigger, but didn’t.

“Time will come, and Chad and his new little whore will be dead.”

He picked up the paper and looked at the social column, “Funny thing is, she’s engaged to another man.”

He threw the paper towards the wastebasket but missed, and didn’t care.

He turned back to the picture, “I just need the location.”

Lydia! Please, at least talk to me!” John pleaded as his wife started throwing his clothing out from the closet.

“We’re done talking John. I want you out, now.”

“And what am I going to go?”

Lydia crossed her arms, “I don’t give a damn, I just want you out of my house.”

John picked up the suitcase, “Fine, I’m leaving.” he went to the door and turned to look at his wife, “But this isn’t over yet Lydia. Not by far.”

Sean’s Apartment

Sean carried the box of furniture pieces into the apartment and put it down in the living room. He looked around at the color of the walls, blue. They would have to do.

He looked around at all the boxes he had just removed from the storage unit he’d put them in since his return from Vermont. He opened a long tube and took out several posters and looked at them. He knew he couldn’t put them up in the living room. His family was way too close by.

He opened the closet door and tossed them in the corner. He’d figure something out with them soon.

He took a box of dishes into the kitchen and started unwrapping them when the door opened, “Uncle Sean? Are you here?”

Lysa walked in, closing the door behind her.

“Hey babe.” He came into the living room and immediately kissed her.

She pushed him away, “Dad could come in at any minute.”

“So that makes it even more exciting.”

“Sean.” she looked at him and then looked away.

“What’s wrong?” he put his hands on her waist before leaving over and kissing her neck, “Tell me baby girl.”

“What does share mean?”

Sean pulled away. He looked at her and finally sighed. “It means I have a group of friends, who won’t look down on us.”

“I don’t know, that seems kind of iffy.”

“It’s fine. I promise.”

Abby and Dan’s Apartment

Abby put her key into the lock and said a silent prayer that Dan wasn’t up. She was not ready to face him. She just really didn’t want him grabbing a gun and running off to kill Chad for stealing her virtues or whatever it was her brother thought she had.

As she opened the door she found the living room clear as was the kitchen. She gently shut it and then made a quick dash for her bedroom, almost knocking over a vase on the way.

Dan unlocked the front door and opened it slowly so it wouldn’t creak. He stuck his head inside and saw Abby didn’t appear to be awake. Hopefully she slept in since she had today off. He finally fully entered the apartment and closed the door behind him. He started tiptoeing to his room, only to practically trip and fall against her door. He luckily grabbed the doorframe and saved himself from complete humiliation. He slowly turned the knob and jumped into his room.

About fifteen minutes after Dan returned, both his and Abby’s doors opened. They looked at each other as they both went into the kitchen wearing their pajama’s the other assumed was from the other night.

“So big bro, how was your New Years Eve?” She opened up the fridge and took out a carton of milk.

Dan watched her and noticed Ethan’s ring was gone. “It was alright, nothing eventful. And what about yours little sister dear?”

Abby popped back up and smiled, “Oh pretty much uneventful as well.”

“Where’s the ring?”

Abby’s eyes widened, “Crap.”

“You take it off?” he opened a cupboard and took out a box of cereal.

“Yes, I did. Its in my jeans I wore last night.”

“They better have been on all night.” he warned.

She rolled her eyes, “I’m a grown woman Daniel. What did you really do last night? Get lucky?”

He turned red, “I have no comment.”

Abby took a sip of her milk, “Who is she?”

“No one you know. So mind your own business. It was one night, I won’t be getting my heart crushed.”

“You better not be, I don’t want to come home to a pile of beer cans again.”

“Don’t worry sis. I’ve grown up.”

Eric pulled his car up to the curb, “I’m sorry we got stuck up there. I’m sure we’ll come up with something.”

Cassie sighed as she turned her cell phone back on and saw ten missed calls from Maggie, “We’ll see if I survive going inside.” she held up the display.

“Yikes, well if you need anything call.”

“Thanks.” Cassie got out and walked to the door, turning to wave good bye to Eric.

She opened the door and stepped inside, she smelled something from the kitchen and went in, finding at least five dozen cookies scattered around the kitchen. “Mags, you home?”

She flipped open her cell and dialed Imagination Clothing.

Sean’s Apartment

Lysa’s watch beeped, “I gotta go, I told Dad I’d go help Grandpa with some stuff. I’ll see you later.” she walked to the door.

“Bye, come by anytime you want.” Sean called out as she left.

He sighed she had found the list. She wasn’t ready yet he had to hold off.

He started to unpack more stuff when his cell phone rang, “McKay.” he sighed, “Doc, she’s not ready . . . No I won’t bring her tomorrow. Fine. Tonight, seven, I understand. My apartment, yes. Bye Doc.”

He glared at his phone for a moment before pushing the end button and turning it off.

Clay Sapp’s Office

“So Mr. Layden, what can I do for you today?” Clay Sapp asked as he sat down at his desk with his paper coffee cup.

Preston leaned back in his seat, “I want you to investigate my sister’s murder. The Pinõn Hallow Police seem to be unable to figure it out.”

“But its still an open investigation.”

“But for how much longer?” Preston leaned forward tapping the desk, “Who knows they could in a few weeks put it in cold cases and forget about it. Where’s justice for my sister.”

Clay took a sip from his coffee cup, “I’ll see what I can find, but I don’t know how much more I can find that they haven’t.”

Preston stood up and dropped a wad of cash on the desk, “Just find it.”

Imagination Clothing

Cassie stuck her head in the door of the shop and realized it was pretty much dead. This was not going to be good at all. Slowly she walked in and up to the cash-wrap area. “Hey Mags.”

Maggie looked up, anger forced her to frown and narrow her eyes, “Backroom, now Cass.”

Cassie followed her sister and closed the door behind them, placing her purse on the counter, “I’m sorry. I couldn’t get a cell signal.”

“Where the hell were you? I was up all night going out of my mind.”

“And Baking.” Cassie tried to crack a smile, “I was up at the Savoren cabin with Eric. We were setting it up, so that, well so we could get you and Conner up there.”

Maggie shook her head, “What are you talking about?”

“Eric and I were trying to get you two back together.” Cassie sat in the desk chair and looked up at her sister, “We couldn’t get you two to talk on Christmas Eve, so we figured, why not get them trapped together on New Years Eve. But instead we got trapped.”

“What happened between the two of you?”

“Nothing Mags, Eric’s a college guy. I’m a high school girl. Nothing happened. Trust me if anything did you’d be the first person I tell.”

Dan and Abby’s Apartment

“Fine Dan, don’t tell me about your mystery woman.” Abby rinsed out her glass and put it in the dishwasher.

“Good, cause I’m not going to.” Dan sat on the couch and turned on the TV and then his play station.

“Veto!” Abby yelled as she reached to turn the game system off.

“Oh come on, Abs. Why not?”

“Cause I’d rather watch TV then watch you play that stupid game.”

Dan made a face and handed her the remote, “Fine, watch Crap.”

“I will.” Abby said as she started flipping through the channels.

“Good.” Dan sulked as someone began knocking on the door. “Let me get it. Maybe its your ring.”

Abby turned and flipped him off, just as he opened the door.

“Dad!” Dan stepped back, and Abby saw her father with a suitcase.

“What’s going on Daddy?” Abby asked as she got up.

“You’re mother and I are taking a little break from each other.” he told them as he carried the bag into their apartment.

“Oh really, so why are you here?” Dan asked and was then greeted with a stomach smack from his sister.

“Sam’s room is empty, we never did find a use for it.” Abby pointed down the hall.

“Thanks kids. You’re great.” John carried his bag to the room, leaving the siblings alone.

“Dad left Mom.” Abby said sitting on the arm of the chair.

“Mom, probably kicked him out.” Dan replied.

“What could be the reason?”

Dan shrugged, “I’m gonna find out.”

Hallow Hotel Room 15

Chad knocked on the door and could only hope this was the right one. It was getting cold and he was getting sick of interrupting people.

Brighton opened the door, “Nice to see you honey.”

Chad pushed him aside and came into the room, “Stay the hell away from me, whoever you are.”

Brighton sat on the bed, “But I’m your husband.”

“You were NEVER my husband.” Chad lifted him up and looked in his eyes, “My God you are alive. You bastard.”

“Now, now. Would you want your precious Abby to hear you say something like that?”

Chad tossed Brighton down on the floor, “Stay the hell away from her. If you hurt her, I’ll kill you and you’ll be dead this time.”

“An Ice Pick through the heart, just like Kathryn Layden right?”

“Stay away from us Brighton. Do you understand me?”

Brighton brushed off his shirt, “Fine, for now.”

225 Shavano Court

“Mom, you home?” Dan called out as he entered the house and removed his jacket and gloves.

Lydia came down the stairs, “Hi, I was just about to take a sledge hammer to your father’s computer.”

Dan ran to the stairs, “Mom, don’t get that drastic. Tell me why is Dad not living her anymore.”

Lydia sighed as she came down the rest of the flight and started towards the kitchen, “He’s in love with Laura Davis.”

Dan shook his head and tried to keep up with her, “Explain. I think I lost a few pieces of this puzzle.”

Lydia opened the cabinet and took out a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Crème. “High School Sweethearts.”

“But I thought you and Dad were.”

“Ha! Laura was his first love. He wanted to marry her, to have kids. But her mother forced her to break up. So I snatched him up and won him as my own.” She opened the bottle and poured some into a nearby glass.

Dan shook his head, “Mom, I’m sure you and Dad can work this out. You’ve been married for years.”

“Yes, that we were. Too bad its over.”

“Mom, its not over unless you want it to be over.”

Sean’s Apartment

“Lysa, I’m sorry I called you to come back, but one of my friends is anxious to meet you.” Sean told her as he handed her a glass of soda.

“Its alright, Dad’s not home so he’ll never miss me.”

“Good.” Sean leaned in to kiss her but someone began knocking at the door. “That’ll be Doc.”

Sean opened the door, “Hey Doc, come on in.”

Sean moved out of the way and Dr. Clint Nevada walked in, “You must be Lysa.” He smiled, revealing his dimples.

Lysa blushed, “I am.”

“Sean’s said only good things about you.”

“Like what?”

Clint’s smile grew bigger, “That you’re the best he’s ever had.”
