Episode 3.18

Abby’s neck was stiff, her eye lids and head felt heavy. Her mouth and throat were dry and went she tried to lick her lips she discovered something was covering her mouth. Panic struck through her body as she tried to stand, only she was tried down to something—at mattress. Her heart was racing, what happened. Who would do this to her? Why would they do this to her?

The door opened and who she thought was her capture came in. He was about the same height as her brothers, blond hair and carrying an air of menace. He chuckled as he kicked the door closed, “I see the husband stealing whore is awake.”

Abby’s eyes were wide with confusion as she struggled against the ropes.

“Oh that’s right, I bet Chad never told you about me.” Brighton sat next to her on the bed, his hand reaching up to caress her face.

Abby flinched at the thought of his touch and jerked back, shaking her head.

“Its alright I won’t touch you. I would never be unfaithful to Chad. He’s my husband.” He smiled, “I know, who would’ve guessed he’s gay right?”

She couldn’t say anything she could only watch this man walk around the room that appeared to be in the midst of construction.

Brighton placed his hands on her face and removed what was covering her mouth. “There now you can speak whore.”

“I am not a whore!” Abby spat out at him.

Brighton chuckled again, “Then why are you engaged to the minister and sleeping with my husband.”

“You’re not married to Chad. He’s a widow. His wife Bethany died last summer.”

“Don’t lie! My sister would never marry Chad!” Brighton put his hands to his head as though he were in pain, “Bethany wouldn’t do that to me.”

“You can’t be Bethany’s brother, he died in a fire two summers ago. My brother is the one who found the body.”

“I was only burned. I have friends who helped me escape. The same friends that will forever make Chad pay for what he did.”

“Tell me what he did!” Abby pleaded as she struggled against the restraints.

“He broke the confidence of the leader. He tried to destroy us all with his lies in the magazine!”

“This is about an article he wrote?”

“It’s a piece of fiction. None of what he said is true. The leader would never do this to us.”

Dan and Abby’s Apartment

John looked around his children’s apartment. It was strange he had never realized how little he no longer knew about them. The game system hooked up to the television, the posters that decorated the walls. The books and movies on the shelves. How had he gotten so far from them?

“You still know more then Lydia, I’m sure.” he said to himself as he noticed the time on the VCR blinking.

He went over to the counter and looked at the day planner sitting open. In Abby’s hand writing she had several appointments, all of which should have her home by now.

Taking the phone off the receiver he dialed Dan’s work number.

The Java Jet

Maggie took a sip of her mocha and went back to looking over paper work for Imagination Clothing when a shadow fell upon her.

She looked up and saw Conner holding his own coffee cup in his hand, “Hi Mags.”

“Hi Conner, how are you?”

“I’m alright. How are you doing?”

“Fine, how’s Lysa?”

“Moody, but she’s a teenager what else could I expect.”

“I can only imagine, I just got off the phone with Cassie. She’s very upset I won’t break the news to my dad about her choice of colleges.”

Conner pulled out the chair across from her and sat down, “Where did she get accepted?”

“The Fort of course, Metro, University of Houston, and Pinõn Hallow College.”

“And if she chooses anywhere besides the Fort, Larry won’t be happy.”

Maggie nodded, “Exactly and she chose PHC. So its going to be an interesting day in Durango when my father finds out.”

“It was good talking to you, but I left Eric in charge so I better get back.” Conner stood up.

“Yeah, it was good talking to you to. We should do it more often.”

Clint Nevada’s Cabin

Sean opened the door of the cabin and escorted Lysa inside as he watched her wrap her jacket around her body tightly, “Sean, I don’t know about this.” She told him as she looked around.

The room was filled with people, mostly men older then her, even older then Sean. Each one accompanied by a girl, most about Lysa’s age, a couple older and a few younger. Suddenly she didn’t feel very good about this.

“Sean! Lysa! I’m so glad you came.” Clint came in the room holding several drinks, “Here join the fun.” He handed a drink to each of them.

“Hello.” Lysa replied as she looked at the drink in her hand, it looked like soda but she had a feeling it was a bit harder.

“I’d like you to meet some people, Alex, Claudia could you come here.” Clint called out towards the bar area.

Lysa felt her heart start to beat rapidly when she saw her English teacher Mr. Bowen walking towards them with one of her classmates Claudia Peters.

Claudia smiled, “Lysa, I’m so glad you’re here. I finally have someone I can talk to.”

“Alex, its been a long time.” Sean extended his hand as he kept one arm protectively around Lysa.

“Yes that it has Sean. I had no idea young Lysa was involved.”

Clint smiled, “Well introductions seem to be silly. Perhaps we should continue the orientation process.”

“Orientation?” Lysa felt as confused as she sounded.

“It’s a blast.” Claudia told her with a wicked smile, “I think Alex and Doc will be looking after you this evening. You are ready to be shared right?”

Lysa looked around and Sean nodded and mouthed that it was perfectly fine.

PHPD Squad Room

Adams.” Dan answered his phone as he stared at the piece of paper in front of him.

“Its Dad, have you heard from Abby? Cause she hasn’t gotten home yet and she should be home by now right?”

Dan glanced at Siobhan and rolled his eyes, “Dad, Abby is a grown woman she’ll be home when she wants to come home. Trust me on that.”

“Dan this is different, trust me on this one. I’m your father and come on Abby knows I’m here so why wouldn’t she call and let me know she was going to be late.”

“Fine, I’ll call Chad and Ethan and see if she’s with either of them.” Dan flipped his phone closed, “Seriously if only I could toss him and my mother in a room together.”

“Sadly it doesn’t work that way.” Siobhan went over the note, “It’s the same handwriting as the last one at least.”

“At least then we know only one person is sending us cryptic clues.” He opened the flap of his phone and searched for Ethan in the address book. Once the name was highlighted he hit send.

“Reverend Jacobs, how may I help you.” Ethan’s voice floated into Dan’s ear.

“Hey, its Dan have you seen Abby?”

“She was here earlier, making plans for the wedding. She mentioned she had to go shopping, and then back home. That was a couple of hours ago. Why?”

“No reason, thanks Ethan. I’ll talk to you later.” Dan quickly ended the call, “Poor bastard.”

Siobhan raised an eyebrow, “Why?”

“He’s about to get his heart trampled on by my sweet sister.” Dan opened up the web browser on the desktop and went straight for the phone directory and looked up Chad’s number.

“Hallow Hills, how may I direct your call.” A female voice came over the receiver.

Dan cringed, “Chad Davis please.”

“Just a moment and I’ll transfer you.”

Chad Davis.”

“Mr. Davis, this is Dan Adams, Abby’s brother. I was just wondering when you last saw her.”

“This morning, why is something wrong?”

“Has she called you or anything?”

“No, what’s wrong?”

“My Dad’s just worried that’s all. I better get back to work. Bye.” Dan clapped the phone closed and looked at Siobhan, “Abby’s missing.”

“She’s an adult, she could be shopping.”

“No, she had more important things to do today. Something’s not right about this. Nothing at all.”

Siobhan brought her coffee cup to her lips and took a long sip, “You’re just freaked out because of that note.”

“What if my sister is the missing piece?”

“It’s a long shot, but it could work but still.”

“What am I suppose to do, pretend we didn’t get some whacked out note and let my sister possibly be in danger?”

“No, I guess not. Where are we going to look?”

“I don’t know, I really don’t know.”

On-Call Room

Trista rubbed the back of her neck as she rested her head against the cold metal of her locker. Things with Kyle had gone badly she hadn’t expected it to be that bad, but it was.

Her insecurities had driven him away, and the look in her eyes told her it would be a very long time before any chance of being together would happen, if it ever happened.

“Hey.” Carsyn came in and tossed his stethoscope into his locker.

hi.” Her sadness filled her voice as she opened her locker and hung her lab coat up.

“No sour faces, what are you going to do? Go home and have dinner alone?”

“Yes, probably just curl up on the couch and watch TV.”

“No, you should come to dinner with me.”

Trista shook her head, “I can’t Carsyn. I’m not ready.”

“But Trista—“

“Forget about it Carsyn. I have to go.” She grabbed her purse and walked out of the on call room.

Carsyn leaned against the wall of lockers, “I was just trying to be a good friend.”

Clint’s Cabin

Lysa, Clint, and Alex walked into a large room. The lights were off and Lysa’s stomach was in knots. This was her English teacher for Christ’s sake. What was going to happen?

Clint locked the door and flipped on the lights, revealing the room was a bedroom with a king sized bed.

“You can remove your coat.” Alex told her as he reached out to unbutton it.

Lysa stood frozen as he released each piece of plastic, and then pushed her jacket to the floor.

“Sean has always known how to dress his girls.” Clint smiled as he looked at Lysa in the brief style panties and matching bra.

Lysa felt herself relaxing and she wasn’t sure why.

“You’re even more tempting then I realized.” Alex told her as his fingers grazed her arms. He took a step forward, “Are you willing to play?”

Lysa nodded as she felt Clint’s hands on her back before he started to kiss the back of her neck.

Hallow Hills—Front Gate

Brighton took out his prepaid cell phone as he arrived at the front gate of Hallow Hills. He looked around and realized he was the only one around. “Perfect.” He looked in the address book and found Dan Adams listed. His plan was coming to the best part.

Chad would pay for hurting him and so would his whore. As he hit send he brought the phone to his mouth.

“Dan Adams.”

“If you want to find Kathryn Layden’s killer, then you have to find Abby Adams first.” Brighton spoke slowly before pausing, “Did you get that, find Abby first and then you’ll find Kathryn’s killer.” After that he hit end and walked away from the front gate.

PHPD

Dan put the phone down, “Someone did take Abby.”

“What did they say?” Siobhan leaned over her desk.

“To find Kathryn’s killer we have to find Abby first.”

Siobhan stood up, “Let’s go I have a weird idea of where to look.”

Brighton slammed the door shut behind him and looked at Abby laying on the bed, tied up. “Oh its my husbands Whore, all tied up.”

“Go to hell!” Abby screamed, her voice hoarse, her throat and mouth dry.

“I’ve already been there thanks to Chad and his little brother Kip.” Brighton picked up an envelope he had placed next to her on the nightstand.

Its interesting really, how it takes a family member being in danger to get the police moving. You’re very lucky your brother Dan loves you.” Brighton placed the envelop on her body before opening the door and taking out a syringe. “Sleep well Abby Adams.”
