Episode 3.22

Velma’s Dress Shop

Abby stood on the circular platform as the seamstress went over a few last minute details of her wedding dress.

Lydia sat in a near by chair, “Abigail, I wish you wouldn’t rush this wedding. We have a million things to do and not nearly enough time.”

“Mom its fine. Ethan talked to a friend who’ll perform the ceremony. Jeff said we can have the reception at Home Cookin’. The bridal shower is tonight at the apartment. Dan’s taking Ethan out for a bachelor type thing.” Abby turned her head to her mother. “There’s no need to fret. Tomorrow at three o’clock Ethan and I will be married.”

“You’re all set Miss. Adams. We’ll have the dress delivered tonight.” The seamstress looked up. “You can get changed now.”

“Thank you.” The seamstress left and Abby stepped down and behind the changing screen.

Lydia took a few nervous steps forward, “Abby, I want to make sure that you’re happy. I know you love Ethan, but honey what about your feelings for Chad?”

Abby came out buttoning her shirt, “Mom, there is nothing between me and Chad Davis.”

“Alright, I believe you.” Lydia sighed.

Java Jet

“So are you going to the wedding tomorrow?” Chad Davis asked Conner McKay.

“Yeah, Maggie and I are going.” Conner placed his punch card on the counter.

Chad picked it up and punched a few more holes. “You two finally together?”

“We’re trying.” Conner nodded as Chad placed his orders in the cardboard holder.

“How’s Lysa doing? She hasn’t been around lately.”

Conner sighed, “Moody, rebellious. I’m not sure what to do with her some of the time.”

“Great, I’ll look forward to that from Fallon.” Chad smiled but it quickly faded as she saw Abby and Lydia leaving the bridal shop.

Conner turned just in time to see who’d stolen the smile from his friend’s face. “Love is a crazy road that we can never see the next turn on, until its far too late.”

“And you say this because?”

Chad its as obvious as the sky is blue. You’re in love with Abby and vice versa.” Conner smiled, “Don’t be a fool and stand by as the she flies away from you.”

Chad rolled his eyes, “Take your coffee and get your sappy ass out of here ya damn twitter painted fool.”

Food Court

Maggie stood in line at the sandwich stand waiting for her order when her cellphone started to vibrate in her pocket. As she took it out she saw that Cassie had sent her a text message.

“Huh, that’s odd.” She told herself as she flipped her phone closed to quickly grab her lunch and went over to a table to eat.

She opened her phone again and began searching her directory for her father’s number. Once she found it she quickly hit send, “Hey Daddy,” Maggie began when his office voice mail picked up, “I got a message from Cassie earlier. Is everything alright there? She said you and April have been acting weird. You guys can talk to us ya know. Love you, talk to you soon.”

Dan and Abby’s Apartment

“Abby, you really are going to marry the Rev tomorrow, aren’t you?” Dan asked as he stood in the doorway of her bedroom.

Abby looked up, “Yeah Dan I am. Do you have a problem with that?”

“Besides Sam not being here? Yeah because only a few days ago you were ready to give up Ethan to be with Chad.”

Abby stood up and walked towards her brother, “And then some psychopath kidnapped me because he was jealous I was with Chad.”

“Do you love Ethan enough to spend the rest of your life married to him? To have his children?” Dan folded his arms over his chest.

“Yes, I believe I do.” Abby pushed passed him and went into the kitchen, “Can we end this now? Mom’s going to be here in a few minutes and you have to help Daddy move his stuff back into the house before you go out with Ethan.”

“Fine, I’ll drop it. But, if you’re up there tomorrow afternoon and you realize that you can’t marry Ethan because your heart is with Chad, stop the wedding and confess it out loud. Don’t torture yourself with what if’s.”

Pinõn Hallow High—Room 240

“For Monday I’d like you all to prepare poster’s for a movie adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Who do you see as Catherine, Heathcliff and so on. You’ll be working in you’re new pair’s posted by the door.” Alex Bowen walked around the classroom, in between the groups of desks just as the bell rang, signaling the end of school.

Lysa McKay shoved her books in her back when Claudia Peters came over, “Mr. Bowen made us partners. Want to come by my place tonight to work on the project?”

“He did?” Lysa glanced up at her teacher who smiled at them.

“Hurry up girls the day is young. I’m sure you have much more pressing things you could be doing.” Alex started to erase the board.

“Of course we do Mr. Bowen, we have to go and work on that video for history.” Claudia told him with a smile. “Come on Lysa, lets go get that done.”

“I’m right behind you.”

As the girls walked into the hall Lysa turned to Claudia, “Are you sure about doing this?”

Claudia smiled, “Yes, Alex will be at my house within twenty minutes. This will be fun. Trust me.”

Moonlight Bar

Dan brought the Coors Light bottle to his mouth taking a long sip as he looked across at the man who would marry his sister. “You sure you’re ready to marry my sister?”

Ethan smiled as he moved his beer bottle between his hands on the table, “More then ready. I love Abby, I’ve been in love with her since I moved to Pinõn Hallow.”

“That’s good to know.” Chad Davis pulled out a chair and sat down.

“Yeah very good to know.” Conner followed suit and joined the men.

“I’m glad you guys made it.” Dan looked from Conner to Chad, “I was afraid the Rev here would give up early and I’d have to go back to an apartment full of broads.”

“Hey, one of those is my girlfriend.” Conner took a sip of his pinstripe.

“Which one?” Ethan leaned forward.

“Maggie, she and Conner finally stopped fighting the attraction.” Chad informed the others before taking a sip of his true blonde.

“So wow, Ethan’s getting married, Conner and Maggie are finally together, I guess that leaves me and Chad as the single men.” Dan leaned back in his chair and smiled.

“Not so fast kid, I have two kids to raise, I’m not completely single.”

Dan laughed, “So what? I’m the bachelor of the group?”

The three looked at him, “Exactly.”

“Fine, I’ll be out having a good old time while you’re all at home doing whatever it is you do.” Dan took another sip of his beer.

Conner laughed, “You’re going to be the one to fall the hardest. Just wait and see.”

“Sure whatever.” Dan got up and took the last swig of his beer, “Anyone want another?”

“I’m fine.” Ethan pointed to his beer which he’d only taken a few sips of.

“Same here.” Conner responded.

Dan and Abby’s Apartment

“Oh look at this one Abby.” Lydia pulled out the night gown from the box, “It’s gorgeous.”

“Yeah, everything is.” She told her mother as she picked up the last paper plates after her guests had left.

“Are you alright?”

“Yeah, just nervous I guess. I mean tomorrow I’m going to get married.” Abby sat down and looked around, “I won’t live here anymore. I won’t be teasing Dan about playing his video games all the time.”

“Hey, now.” Lydia came over and took her daughter’s face in her hands, “You’re growing up baby girl. Tomorrow you’re going to be the most beautiful bride possible. You’re going to marry the man you love. Sure you’ll be leaving Dan behind but hey, it’ll push him to grow up to. Look at what happened when Sam left.”

Abby’s eyes grew sad, “I wish Sam could be here. But I understand why he won’t be.”

“Good, now get some sleep. You have a big day tomorrow.”

“Thanks Mom, good night.” Abby looked up and watched as her mother left.

After a few minutes Abby began to finish cleaning up the living room when someone knocked on the door. “Just a second.” She called out as she made her way to the door, opening it to see Jeff Davis. “Mr. Davis, what are you doing here?”

Jeff walked in, “I came to talk to you. I know you and Chad have been involved. Tell me you won’t break my sons heart.”

“Jeff, I’m going to marry Chad. Nothing, no one, will stop me. I love Ethan.” Abby crossed her arms over her chest defensively.

“Good, because trust me Abigail Adams, you hurt my son and you’ll pay.”

“Is that a threat or a promise?”

“Do you really want to test it?”

Claudia’s House

Alex stood in the backyard, looking in the sliding glass doors as Lysa and Claudia undressed each other in front of a video camera. He took out his cell phone and hit Doc’s number, “Oh Doc, they are ready. More then we realized . . . Right now, I’m watching them make a video of themselves together. They’ll be perfect for him.” Alex turned his back to them as a creepy smile crossed over his face, “I’ll have them ready tomorrow afternoon. They’ll be on their way by five tomorrow night . . . You handle Sean, I’ll handle the girls.”

Alex closed his phone, hanging up the call as he went to the door and slid it open, “Evening girls, may I join you?”

Claudia smiled, “Of course Alex.”

Lysa went over and began to unbutton his shirt, “Girls, I’m so glad you’ve gotten so close.”

“Why?” Claudia asked as she fluffed the pillows around her.

“Because, I think this weekend you should go somewhere.”

Lysa stopped and stepped back, “Go somewhere? What do you mean?”

“Sit, please.” Alex asked as he sat across from them. “You’re willing to do whatever I ask right?”

“Yes, I think we’ve proved that.” Lysa told him as she sat down on the cushions next to Claudia.

“Good, because I have a friend who would really like to meet you two. He lives in Mexico, and he’ll spoil you while your with him.”

Mexico, you mean leave the country?” Claudia sat up, unsure of what to do about this.

“Yes, leave the country. His name is Carlton James. I think you two will please him greatly if you go.”

“Will you be with us?” Lysa chewed on her bottom lip.

“No, I have to stay here for the weekend. I have papers to grade from the freshmen class.” He smiled, “Pack your things tonight, tell no one. Meet here at three.”

“What should we pack?” Claudia sat up chewing her nails.

Alex smiled, “Whatever you feel you need. But I do suggest keeping it to one bag. And don’t worry about your homework this weekend. Have fun, together.”

The Bridge

“Okay, Doc what was so important we had to meet tonight?” Sean McKay asked as he shoved his hands in his pockets.

Clint turned to Sean and smiled, “Lysa and Claudia are being sent to Carlton James tomorrow. I want you to cover up their disappearances. Make it look like they just ran away. We’re lucky Claudia’s parents are out of town until Wednesday so she won’t be reported until later. However we need you on Lysa’s case right away. Plus you’re her uncle after all.”

“Is Carlton James one of these long time clients? The kind where Lysa and Claudia may never be back?”

“That doesn’t matter. We’re getting good money for this Sean. Think about how much you and Alex will be getting. Carlton is paying triple because he wants two girls right away.” Clint took a few steps forward, “Don’t mess this up because you feel guilty for bedding your niece. You did it more then once Sean, this is happening no matter what.”

Sean flapped his hands and arms in the air, “Fine I’ll do what I can. I’ll set it to look like Lysa ran away, and we’ll do the same for Claudia. They have been spending a lot of time together. It’d make sense if we set it up they were involved together and ran off because they were afraid of not being accepted.”

Clint smiled, “Good. Be prepared for this tomorrow night.”

Dan and Abby’s Apartment

Abby turned off the kitchen light as she was on her way to bed now that Jeff had left. Someone began knocking on the door. “Jeff, go away.” Abby called out as she answered the door and saw Chad standing there. “Chad, what are you doing here.”

Chad didn’t say anything, he just pulled Abby into his arms and kissed her. For a moment she was drawn into his kiss, keeping her body as close to him as possible with clothes on. “Wait, no. This isn’t right.” Abby pulled away.

“Don’t marry Ethan. I know you love me Abby.” Chad held her hands in his, “Run away with me tonight. We can get married in the morning.”

Abby pulled her hands away and shook her head, closing her eyes to hold back tears, “I can’t Chad. I . . . I love Ethan.”

“You don’t Abby, I know you don’t. You love me, you told me so.”

Abby took an unsteady breath, “I lied. Good bye Chad.” She closed the door after pushing him into the hallway.

Dan leaned against Siobhan’s door down the hall as he watched Chad walk away defeated. Shaking his head he accidentally banged it against the door.

Siobhan’s Apartment

She opened the door and Dan fell into the room, “Adams, what the hell!”

“Sorry Siobhan.” He slurred as he tried to get up.

“What’s going on? Why are you drunk?” She helped him to her couch.

He sighed, “I’m the bachelor, Abby’s marrying Ethan when she loves Chad, who probably killed Kathryn Layden.”

Siobhan sighed, “Sleep on the couch.” She told him but he already was as she pulled the blanket over him. “Crazy kid.”
