Episode 3.24

Mexico City Airport

Brent James looked around as he waited for the flight to get in. He hated having to do his fathers bidding. He really hated it. If his father was going to do this, why couldn’t he just leave him out of it?

Passengers from the flight started to walk into the terminal area. Brent held up the sign his father had given him, “Doc’s Girls.” He felt sick to his stomach doing this. The last ones had just been a little older then him, then his father traded them to some guy in South America.

He tried not to really look at anyone as he nervously tapped his foot and took deep, short breaths, until he saw her out of the corner of his eye. He felt himself gasp as this lovely young girl with short blond hair walked towards him, it was then he realized she had a friend. They must be the girls. “Doc’s Girls?”

“Yeah, I’m Lysa and this is Claudia.” Lysa gave him a nervous smile.

Brent looked down at the ground, “This all you brought?”

“Yeah it is, that’s all we were told to bring.” Claudia explained as she pulled her hair away from her face.

“Good, let’s go.”

“Tell us who you are at least.” Lysa insisted as the followed him through the terminals.

“Brent, that’s all you need to know. Let’s go before someone gets suspicious.”

“Wait a minute, where are we going?” Lysa put her hand on his shoulder and he stopped.

Brent turned and looked at her, his face was red and eyes narrowed, “Don’t touch me. Ever. Got it?”

Lysa put her hands up, “Yeah I’ve got it.”

“Good, lets go because my Father is waiting for you girls.”

Kyle’s Office

Dan knocked on the door eagerly, “Come in!” he heard Kyle call out.

Dan popped his head in, “Any word yet?”

“No not yet.” Kyle looked up from his desk, “Come sit down. I have a feeling it’ll be soon though.”

“Is that good or bad?” Dan asked as he sat across from the ADA.

“It depends on how you feel about this.” Kyle picked up his pen and tapped it against the palm of his hand, “I know this is nerve racking but sadly its how things go. You’ll get used to it.”

Dan shook his head, “I doubt that. Either way this goes is bad at the end of the day. Either way my sister is going to be pissed at me.”

“Listen, Dan we have no idea what the grand jury is going to say. If they bring down an indictment we have to proceed. If that’s what happens its because they believe theirs enough evidence to do so.” Kyle leaned back in his chair before turning around just a bit to look out the window.

“I’m just glad Abby is out of town on her honeymoon so she won’t be around for the actual fallout of this.” Dan squirmed in his seat just and Kyle’s phone rang.

ADA Roberts.” Kyle spoke as he lifted the receiver to his ear. “Yeah I’ll be right over.”

“They’re back aren’t they?” Dan asked as he stood up.

“Yeah, let’s go. You may have to go arrest someone soon.”

Conner’s Apartment

Conner knocked on Lysa’s door for the fourth time and it wasn’t even noon yet, “Lysa, wake up!”

Nothing. Silence.

Conner rolled his eyes and opened the door, finding the bed made, and nothing looked out of place. However something didn’t feel right to him.

He walked around, looking at the window, and in the closet—her suitcase was gone. “Lysistrata!” He called out as he looked out the window, knowing she could’ve been gone since last night and he had no idea.

Conner leaned against her desk, causing the mouse to move and the screen to come back up showing a word document with a note.

Dad, Had to leave, I can’t say why and I don’t know if or when I’ll be back. Lysa.

Conner picked up the phone and began to dial, “Sean, get down her. Lysa is gone.”

PHPD

Becker followed Siobhan into the squad room, “Will you talk to me, please?” he asked as she poured herself a cup of coffee.

“There’s nothing to say. We’re over.” She looked at him sternly, “please drop it. I thought I knew you and I was wrong, you’re still my boss so I have to see you every day. Isn’t that enough?”

“What’s going on between you and Adams? Do I have to keep you two away from each other?” He crossed his arms over his chest.

Siobhan rolled her eyes, “No, besides you know nothing about what’s going on between Dan and I, if anything. Just drop it Shamus, or whatever your name is.”

Becker sighed as he watched to go back to her desk. He shook his head before storming into his office.

He picked up the stress ball sitting on his desk and began squeezing it but that didn’t seem to be helping. How had he messed things up so badly, that now Siobhan would barely talk to him.

Siobhan popped her head in the office, “Dan just called the grand jury is back in. I’m gonna run over to the court house and see what’s up.”

Becker nodded, “Good, hopefully we can close the Kathryn Layden case.”

“Yeah, we’ll be back soon.”

Judy’s Bed and Breakfast

Ethan rested on his arm as he watched Abby sleeping. She looked like an angel, calm and happy. He just couldn’t bare to wake her up, even if she started to toss and turn.

He kissed her forehead and got out of bed, quickly putting his robe on and going into the bathroom to start the shower.

Abby began to toss more, “No, let me go.” She moaned.

Ethan came back just as she clutched her hands in her sleep, “Chad help me.”

Ethan covered his mouth as he watched her for another moment before going over and gently shaking her, “Abby, wake up sweetheart.”

Abby’s eyes opened and she looked around, “Oh thank God. It was just a dream.” She put her hand over her chest, “I’m fine, just a nightmare about the kidnapping.”

“Are you sure?” Ethan sat on the bed and cupped his wife’s face in his hands.

Abby smiled, “Yeah, I’m positive.” She then noticed the sound of running water, “Who’s in the shower?”

Ethan slipped his hands under her body, before kissing her, “Us.” he breathed as he carried her into the bathroom.

Conner’s Apartment

Sean walked into Lysa’s room, “What do you mean Lysa is gone Conner?”

“This.” Conner pointed to the screen.

Sean sighed, he was going to kill Doc for making him do this. “Alright, I’ll call the station and have them send someone over. When do you think she left?”

“It could’ve been anytime since yesterday afternoon. Maggie and I went to the wedding, and of course the reception. I got back late and didn’t want to wake Lysa up.” Conner leaned against the door frame, “I don’t know why my little girl would run away Sean. Doesn’t she know I love her?”

“Hey, Hey now.” Sean put his hands on Conner’s shoulders, “Whatever reason she has, I bet it has absolutely nothing to do with you at all. Okay, we’re going to find her and bring her home. I’m going to do everything I can. I promise you big brother.”

“Thank you.”

“No problem, I’ll go make that call now.”

Court House—Outside Grand Jury Chambers

Dan paced up and down the hall as he saw Siobhan running towards him, “So?”

“Kyle isn’t out yet. He just went in a few minutes ago. But soon we’ll know.” Dan looked over at the window, “Abby is going to freak when she finds out.”

“It’s better that she knows the truth about him before she does something really stupid.”

“I guess your right.”

The door opened and Kyle came out with a smile and a folded document, “Go bring him in.”

Siobhan grabbed the warrant from Kyle’s hands and she and Dan ran out.

Hallow Hills—Living Room

Chad, I’m proud of you.” Doug told his son as he changed to the local news on television.

“And now I’m alone.” Chad sank down in the couch as his mother and Aunt Laura came in.

“Still sulking I see.” Laura sat in one of the armchairs near by and noticed the picture on the TV, “Chad isn’t that your step-daughter?”

Chad looked up, seeing Lysa’s face on the screen with the Amber Alert. “What the hell?”

Doug’s eyes scanned the text, “Says she’s missing since last night possibly.”

Chad pulled out his cell phone as someone began knocking on the front door. “What the hell. I’ll get it.”

Opening the door Chad saw Siobhan and Dan, “Chad, could we talk to you outside?” Siobhan asked with her hands behind her back.

“Now’s not a good time.” Chad glanced back towards the living room, “Is this about Lysa?”

Siobhan looked to Dan, “No Chad, its not. Please don’t make us come in and do this. Not in front of your mother.”

Chad backed up closer to the living room, “Whatever you guys need to talk to me about you can do it in here.”

Chad what the hell is going on?” Adel came into the foyer and saw Siobhan and Dan in the door way, “Officers, what’s wrong?”

Dan sighed, “Chad, we have a warrant for your arrest.”

“What?” Chad dropped his cell phone as he looked at the two, “You’ve got to be kidding me. What’s the charge?”

“Murder.” Siobhan stepped inside, “I’m sorry Chad.”

“I didn’t murder anyone!” Chad looked at his family, “Someone call a lawyer, a good one!”

“Chad Davis you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorney, if you can not afford one, one will be appointed to you at no cost. Do you understand?” Siobhan read from the card as Dan placed the handcuffs on Chad.

“Yes, I’m not a moron.” Chad looked to his mother, “Look after the twins. I’ll be home soon, this is a mistake. I promise.”

Doug stopped them at the door, “Who’s he charged of murdering?”

Siobhan looked at Doug, “Kathryn Layden.”

Laura stood behind her sister in law as she went through her personal planner, “Chad, don’t say anything. I’m going to find you a lawyer, just stay quite.”

“Just take care of the twins.” Chad yelled again as Siobhan and Dan took him out.

Laura finally found the number she was looking for and dialed, “It’s Laura, I need you to come to Pinõn Hallow. My nephew needs the best attorney, and that’s you.”
