Episode 4.02

Lysa’s Bedroom—Carlton Compound

Brent found himself pulling Lysa closer to him, kissing her back. His cell phone fell to the floor as she pulled him towards the bed. It was at that moment, what was happening hit him and he pulled away from her.

Brent looked down at her, sadness in his eyes before he picked up his cell phone, “Call them.”

Lysa stormed away towards the balcony door, “What do you mean them? I just have a father. My mother is dead.” Her arms crossed over her chest as she looked out at the view.

Brent nervously tossed his cell between his hands and hitting the send key, “Then who was the blond woman with him?”

Lysa turned to him, “You said she was blond?” She immediately knew it had to be Maggie, unless her father had hooked up with another psychopath. “How close did she and my father look to be?”

Brent thought for a moment, trying to compose his thoughts. Unsure of what would set her off. “Very close if you want the honest answer. She seemed very worried about you. Who is she?”

Lysa fingered the curtain’s delicate pattern, “Maggie Williams-Lane, she and my father were a thing just before my mother came back to town. Then she was gone and married to this guy Kevin. By the time she came back, my mother was gone after having the twins with her new husband, and my Dad was dating Grace.” she laughed, “The psychopath who locked him up for months in her basement. Eventually Maggie found him and rescued him.”

“So they’ve been together since then? That’s sort of romantic.”

Lysa shook her head, “But it doesn’t work like that. You see Maggie was dating this doctor and my Dad was all messed up. I probably didn’t help, that’s when I gave into the ideas IrishGuy was telling me about. That’s when this,” she motioned around the room, “all began. I guess around Valentine’s day my Dad and Maggie got back together. I wasn’t really up on the status of the relationship.”

She sat back down on the bed, pulling one of the pillows closer to her body, “You see I was trying to distance myself. That’s what Doc, and Mr. Bowen, and IrishGuy said to do.”

Brent sat next to her, “Who is IrishGuy really?”

“You’ll think I’m disgusting when I tell you.” Her eyes brimmed with tears, her breathing became uneven as she was filled with memories of what she had done with her uncle. A man she trusted, a man she believed in. Yet she had allowed him to bring her into this lifestyle.

Brent smiled, “Lysa, trust me I’ve been around this stuff my entire life. Nothing you could say could disgust me.”

Lysa blinked and several tears streamed down her face, “He’s my Uncle Sean.”

Brent looked down at his cell phone and hit the end button before she noticed.

Streets of Mexico City

Conner saw the voicemail indicator flashing on his screen and hit the keys for it to play.

Maggie looked around trying to decide where to go next, before realizing Conner had seemed to stop dead in his tracks.

Conner was white, all color had drained from him as he listened to the voicemail that played on his phone.

“Conner, what is it?”

“That kid earlier, his name was Brent right?”

She nodded, “Why did he call, has he seen her?”

“He’s with her.”

“What?” Maggie pulled Conner into the alley and out of the street, “How do you know?”

Conner held up his cell phone, “Voicemail.”

“Well call him back, find out where they are so you can get to her.”

Conner looked at the missed call list, and hit send on the only number without a name. First he had to find Lysa, later he would deal with the guy called Doc, Mr. Bowen, and his brother.

214 Shavano Court

Trista walked around the living room. It had been months since Kyle had left, and she had made the stupid mistake of sleeping with Carsyn. How could she be so insecure as to let this all happen?

She stood by the window looking out onto the street, the neighborhood children were playing street hockey. She was mesmerized by this. She could feel her biological clock ticking inside of her. She knew she wanted children, yet the only man she had ever imagined as the father was gone from her life forever.

The front door opened and as Trista turned towards it, she saw Carsyn smiling. “I know you miss him, but ya know you guys broke up before and the guy made a fool out of himself on national television to get you back.”

Trista leaned against the wall, “How did you know I was thinking about Kyle?”

Carsyn walked towards her and put his hands on her shoulders, “Because in all honesty if you’re not thinking about work, you’re thinking about him.”

Trista pulled away from him and sat down on the couch, curling her legs under her. “It doesn’t matter. It’s been months. Don’t you think it would’ve happened by now?”

“No. You both need time apart. Trust me everything is going to work out on its own.”

“I wish I could believe you, but Carsyn, this is real life not some book.”

Carsyn sat next to her, “That’s what great books are based on—real life.”

She covered his hand with hers, “Yeah well, this is the point where the heroine tells her best friend that the man she loves is gone, gone, gone.”

He sighed, “I hope your wrong about that. I know I pursued you but that was before I realized how much he meant to you and in all honesty I thought us being together again would help you heal.” He stood up, “I guess its only time that will help you heal.”

Moonlight Bar

Kyle took a handful of pretzels in his hand as he watched the baseball game on in the corner as he sat alone at a table with his pinstripe sitting on the table. The chair next to him got pulled out and Sally sat next to him.

“Who’s winning?” She brought her cape cod to her lips and looked at Kyle—not the game.

“Dodgers, I think. I’m not sure at the moment.” Kyle turned his focus from the TV to Sally, “Nice to see you again Miss Payne.”

She smiled, “Good to see you again Mr. Roberts, nice to know you have a chance to relax with such a huge case coming to trial.”

Kyle chuckled, “Not really, I can pretend.” He sat up, “Opening statements are Monday. The hardest part is the victim’s brother is on top of me to make sure there’s a conviction.”

“I bet that’s hard. And one of the Detectives is out of town right?” Sally needed any information she could get on Siobhan. She had to make sure this woman was out of Joe’s life forever.

Kyle took a sip of his beer and sighed, “Yeah she’s on Vacation. However she’s later down on the witness list so we’re good.” He placed the bottle on the table and smiled, “But I bet you really don’t care about the case, just your ex-husband.”

“You know about all of that huh?”

Kyle nodded, “Siobhan is one of my best friends. I know what he did, I know what he said.”

“Listen, I have a complicated past with Joe. It’s going to hurt her to be with him.”

Kyle sighed, “That’s why she’s staying away from him. She knows what sort of damage being with him causes her and others. She deserves a lot more in a relationship.”

Sally cocked her head to the side, “Are you in love with her?”

“No.” Kyle smiled, “I just got out of something. I’m not ready. I rushed in last time. I’m not going to let that happen again.”

Carlton Compound—Brent’s Room

Brent felt his phone vibrate in his hand just as he closed the door that connected his room to Lysa’s, “Hello?”

“Where’s Lysa?” He heard her father’s voice and he knew his plan had worked.

“We’re about twenty miles outside of the city. We’re in the mountains. The house blends in, except for the glass on the windows. Her room looks out to the east. You have to hurry before she gets traded to a sultan or something.” Brent locked the door and move away from it before looking out his own window.

“Why are you doing this?” Conner asked, desperation caked his voice.

Brent sighed, “Because I think what my father and his friends do is disgusting.”

“How do we get in?”

Brent thought for a moment, “When you get to the gate, tell the guard you’re here to inspect the girls. It’s about the time when my father might start thinking of trading a girl.”

“What kind of thing is this?” Conner’s anger gave Brent chills.

“White sex slavery.”

Mexico City—Alley Way

Conner looked green as he hung up the phone. “This is worse then we thought.”

“How could that be?” Maggie asked as she pulled her hair into a ponytail.

“Sean’s involved in this white sex slavery thing and got my daughter, his niece involved in it.” Conner clenched his hands and was about to punch the wall when Maggie grabbed his wrist.

“No hurting yourself. We have to save her. So where did the kid say we can find her?”

“Twenty miles out of town. When we get there we have to say were there to inspect the girls. The guards will let us in.” Conner looked up at the night sky, “How did this happen Maggie? Am I a bad father?”

“God no, not at all Conner.” She took his hands in hers, “You’re a great father. This probably started when Grace had you locked up. We’re going to get her out of this, and we’ll get her the help she needs.”

“I couldn’t do this with out you Mags.”

She smiled, “You don’t have to Conner. I’m with you through thick and thin. No matter what. You’re stuck with me.”

Terrace Bar—The Garden’s Hotel

Siobhan sipped on her Piña Colada and listened to the soft music playing. She was relaxing for the first time in a very long time. She didn’t have to worry about being called to the house, or dealing with Dan Adams while solving crimes. Though she had to give him props for solving the Layden murder. She never would’ve thought of Chad Davis as a suspect. She didn’t envy him, knowing Abby had started to completely ignore her older brother since.

“Excuse me sir, could I get a vodka martini, stirred not shaken.” A warm, sensual, voice spoke to the bartender with a European accent. Siobhan couldn’t place it exactly, but it sent chills down her spin. She looked towards the voice and saw the sexy stranger from the elevator.

“Bonsoir.” He smiled and she blushed.

“Good evening.” She took a sip of her drink, “I’m Siobhan.”

“That’s a very pretty name.” He sat down and took her hand in his and kissed her fingers, “I’m Elijah. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I believe we were on the elevator together this morning.”

She nodded, “Yes I arrived this morning.”

“Where are you from?” he asked as his drink was placed in front of him and he signed for it.

“Colorado, a small town I bet you’ve never heard of it.” She leaned forward just a little bit, “Where are you from?”

“All over really. My family lives in London. But I myself I live in France and California.” He took a sip before placing it back on the bar.

“I believe they’re very different places. What draws you to France and California?”

“The vineyards, I own some in Napa Valley and some in Bordeaux.”

Siobhan raked her fingers through her hair, “And yet you ordered a martini.”

He smiled, “Yes well, we have our passions and we have our desires. Now what do you do Siobhan.”

“I’m a Detective for the Pinõn Hallow Police.”

Elijah smiled, “Now you must have some very exciting stories.”

Siobhan shook her head, “It’s a small town. Really nothing to report.”

“That I doubt.”

Williams House—Living Room

“Alright Cassie, you’ve got one more present left.” Her Aunt Patty told her as the family gathered around, watching as she opened the small box.

Cassie gasped, “Oh wow, this is just, wow. I don’t know what to say.”

Patty Williams smiled, “It was my mother’s. She had a pendant made when each of you girls were born. That’s the one she made for you. I gave Maggie hers a few years ago.”

Cassie looked at the cross with the diamond sitting in the center. “It’s beautiful, thank you.”

Patty sat next to her niece, “Keep it close to your heart and remember that your family loves you. This way you won’t forget about us when you go off to college.”

“I’m just going to Pinõn Hallow. Maggie will be there. I won’t be all alone.” Cassie looked around. “Besides, Daddy and Ariel will have there hands full with the new baby.”

“New baby?” Patty asked as she looked at her older brother.

“Thanks Cass.” Larry nodded, “Yeah Ariel and I are expecting.”

“Congrats, I’m happy for you.”

“Aunt Patty, have I shown you my dress yet for prom?” Cassie asked knowing this conversation had to be broken.

“No you haven’t, do you have a date?”

Cassie nodded as she led her aunt towards the stairs, “Yeah Jeff and I are going. You know just as friends.”

“That’s great.” She said before the vanished up the stairs.

Ariel stood behind Larry and rubbed his shoulders, “Cassie still isn’t alright with this. I think it was the last straw in a long line of changes.”

Larry sighed, “She’ll be fine. There is a lot going on. She graduates in a few weeks and she’ll be off at college before we know it.”

“I hope your right, I really do.”

Carlton Compound

Conner pulled up to the gate and a guard came to the door. “I’m here to inspect the girls.” He felt his stomach twist as he said the line the boy had told him to.

“Let me call the house and make sure.” the guard left and came back a moment later, opening the gate.

The car moved slowly up to the front of the house and parked.

The doors opened and Conner and Maggie got out, looking around at the house not sure what the next step would be.

Brent pushed the door that connected his and Lysa’s rooms together as he started to rummage through her drawers pulling out her clothing.

Lysa sat up on the bed and watched him, “Brent what are you doing?”

“I’m getting you out of here.”

“I’m not leaving!” She jumped off the bed and went over to him trying to stop him.

Brent turned to her, “It’s the only way to make sure your safe. You’re leaving tonight. I contacted some people who can help you.”

“Why are you doing this Brent? Why are you trying to get rid of me?”

“You’re seriously asking this?”

“Yes, tell me and I’ll leave.”

Brent sighed, his lips felt dry, his whole mouth did, “Because I care about you and I can’t let you be apart of this twisted world. Just please Lysa, do this. Do this for me.”

“Alright, if you insist.” She started to help him pack.

A nearby gate opened and Conner jumped. Suddenly he wished he had a gun, a knife anything. Maggie stood by him, as they waited, neither appeared to breath in the next few seconds.

Lysa stepped out from the gate, Brent followed. She held her bag in front of her, and looked back at Brent.

Brent nodded, “Go home Lysa, trust me.”

Lysa felt her heart racing, tears burning her eyes and before she knew it Conner was holding her tightly in his arms.

“Oh Conner, I really thought you wouldn’t be brave enough for this.” Clint Nevada stood at the top of the stairs, holding a gun pointed towards Conner and Lysa.

“Dr. Nevada, what—oh my God!” Conner felt his heart pounding in his ears.

“Dad, please put the gun down!” Brent called out towards Clint.

Clint shook his head, “This doesn’t involve you Brent. Stay out of it.” he then looked over at Maggie, “This must be the love of your life. This is all too perfect.”

“Doc, please just let us go.” Lysa pleaded as she clung to her father.

“Never!” Clint took several steps forward making sure they saw the gun, “Lysa belongs to me. Just like Claudia does.”

He looked directly at Lysa, “Let go of your father and come back to me.”

She shook her head, “No Doc, you can’t force me to do any of this anymore.”

He laughed, “If I remember correctly I never had to force you to do a damn thing little girl.”

Conner could feel his daughter shaking with fear and kept her close even though he wanted to tear Clint to pieces.

“I guess you leave me no choice at all.” He smiled before pulling the trigger.
